Has anyone else seen this latest from the Symbio website ?

    "Office in India
That is just hilarious. So they think customers are uncomfortable with their race rather than their appalling service and business practices?

You'll be surprised by the number of people who "hate foreign call centres", or say "i could barely understand what they were saying".....I've always find the symbio staff pleasant and courteous, though depending on their competence (some are competent, some dont seem like they've had enough training) it can be a pleasant or a completely infuriating experience!
the people who "hate foreign call centres" almost always do so for the other reason you mention i.e. "i could barely understand what they were saying"

so are you saying that a persons annoyance & dislike of not being able to understand someone over the phone  due to their foreign accent is racist ?

people use the racist card at the drop of a hat nowadays just like Symbio have done with Ofgem

I didn’t mention the racist card at all actually. You just implied it yourself.

Symbio's own website gives me the following message if I ask for a quote:
We are unable to offer our lowest rates for your GSP region due to a technical error, however, we will offer our tariffs once the issue has been resolved.
That's not at all ominous, I'm sure.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's announced they've gone under tomorrow.

I understand they've been given a final order by Ofgem preventing them from taking on new customers. I think it's to do with signing up for DCC (or not) hence the sanction.  Now the question is do you jump now or wait for them to go under and be placed with a SOLR? Having previously been placed with Scottish Power as a SOLR when Yorkshire Energy folded, I wouldn't wish to go through that again, so if I were a Symbio customer I'd think about leaving. The only downside is that presumably most/all alternative suppliers are likely to be more expensive than Symbio but, if one can be found that's not too expensive, it might be better to bite the bullet than go through the SOLR process where you could end up on a very uncompetitive tariff before you can switch away.

The Authority (Ofgem) decided that the Final Order was no longer required for the purpose of ensuring Symbio's compliance with standard licence conditions 42.8 of the gas supply licence and 48.8 of the electricity supply licence as Symbio became a DCC User on 25 March 2020.
    10 Jan 2020.

Quote:  Ofgem is issuing Symbio Energy with a provisional order, which compels it to pay around £450,000 in full for a government environmental scheme.

The Feed In Tariff (FIT) scheme (1), which is administered by Ofgem, provides payments to owners of small-scale renewable energy generators, and is funded through compulsory levies on suppliers (2).

Any supplier that fails to pay its payment by the deadline of 11 August 2021 is in breach of the rules of its supply licence (3).

Symbio has failed to make its Year 12 Quarter 1 FIT payment by the deadline and has told Ofgem it will pay on 3 September, over three weeks late. This will delay the distribution of this money to generators and suppliers.

At the same time, Ofgem is consulting on a final order requiring Symbio to respond to a request for information on the supplier’s cash flow forecasts. The request follows its failure to make previous deadlines for payment into Government renewable schemes. This kind of request for information is common and routine for Ofgem to issue.

If Symbio fails to comply, it could end up having its licence revoked and Ofgem may open a formal investigation into the potential non-compliance, which could result in the supplier paying a penalty. Unquote (source Ofgem)

Ofgrm has since made that final order regarding accounts and cashflow projections:
