Symbio Energy feedback

I don’t understand why they're giving people the chance to leave penalty free when they're also giving them the chance to opt out of the new cash grab scheme?0

Perhaps dozy watchdog Ofgem briefly stirred from its slumbers and growled at them a bit?Tallerdave said:I don’t understand why they're giving people the chance to leave penalty free when they're also giving them the chance to opt out of the new cash grab scheme?1 -
Don't believe a word they say!Tallerdave said:I don’t understand why they're giving people the chance to leave penalty free when they're also giving them the chance to opt out of the new cash grab scheme?
I presume their latest convoluted email carries the standard caveat link to www.symbioenergy.co.uk/disclaimer which opens with:
"The opinions expressed in this email represent those of the individual and not necessarily those of Symbio Energy".
- and continues with:
"This e-mail is also be [sic] legally privileged and without prejudice to any rights and cannot be produced as evidence or used in conjunction with any legal matters".
- etc. I know it's been said before but - you really couldn't make it up.I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a self-satisfied pessimist0 -
They can say what they want but it doesn't change the law. Of course it can be produced as evidence; it's up to the court/judge to decide whether to take any notice of it.devondiver said:

And, it's likely a judge/Ofgem would decide that an email from a company does represent its views and not those of the individual sending it, no matter what the disclaimer says.1 -
Exactement mon ami.
But in 'Symbio world' - anything goes.I'd rather be a disappointed optimist than a self-satisfied pessimist0 -

Surprise, surprise! Out of the blue, I had a telephone call at 2pm this afternoon from Symbio asking if I'd like to have a smart meter fitted.
The fitter was in the area and could be with me within the hour!
Lo and behold he turned up at 3pm! By 4pm I had a brand new Smets2 meter fitted.
Apparently it's got to be adopted by the system and that could take up to 24 hours.
The IHD still says "Not Commissioned", so I assume that this will update once connected.
We shall see. If it means that Symbio can then bill on actual consumption, rather than the mythical figures they produce each month, then this must be a step forward.0 -
Brave or foolish, not sure. They are still going to bill going forward on their ridiculous estimates. The only difference is they can now fudge the current figure under the guise of no smart read !Mister_G said:Surprise, surprise! Symbio are coming up with ever more convoluted ways of having more of a customer’s money. Probably for cash flow purposes as has been mentioned.
They should just come out and say as much, and ask for a retainer or some money up front from each user. Would be much more transparent. Basically, ‘you can have access to these rates but you need to give us £x amount on your account first’. I genuinely think it’s not long until they do something like this.0
