    Have they paid up yet?
  • I did see something fly over but I'm sure it was just a bird. ;)

  • If I don't pay my bill can Symbio disconnect our electricity?

I've tried contacting them 8 times now (calls/emails/voicemails) and STILL NO response.

I've started the search for other suppliers, but OTOH I'm curious to see how this plays out. I just don't want for us to get cut off.

    Any chance of that happening?

Allow me to put the risk of you being disconnected in context. From the Ofgem website:
Quote: Between Q1 and Q4 2018 the number of disconnections for non-payment of debt decreased to 6 for electricity and 0 (zero) in gas from 14 electricity and 4 gas disconnections in the same period the previous year. Unquote

There is also a formal/legal process that has to be followed before a meter can be disconnected. The most likely consequences of not paying a bill is a 'trashed' credit score and debt recovery with the possibility that a supplier might want to fit a pre-payment meter.

Just seen this response on Trust Pilot, written today. Worth reading twice!

Thank you for your comments regarding the current financial viability of Symbio Energy. Symbio Energy is a viable profitable business. Most well-read, reasonable people have a good overview of the world and try and understand matters before prematurely rushing to judgement.

The UK government via Ofgem contacted energy suppliers during Covid 19 to ask them NOT to enforce bills and payments. In short, we were instructed not to chase bills. Some people took advantage of this and have used Covid 19 to avoid paying legitimate bills. The newspapers and indeed the UK government have published that they worked with suppliers to assist the UK public.

Symbio as a newer company does not have access to UK government bond issues or large corporate finance routes. 90% of UK companies have made a loss in 2020 due to Covid 19. Symbio is an exception to this. Symbio does however have a lot of customers who are now in arrears. This in turn has a short-term negative impact which we have mitigated.

We have consistently been the UK’s Lowest Price Electricity Provider for over 18 months in a row. This has been achieved in partnership with our customers who have paid on time. Bad debt and late payments affect customers who are consistent in payment and meter read submissions.

It is a pity that some people, many of whom are NOT Symbio customers use Trust Pilot for Cyber Trolling and in some instances, competitors use this forum to undermine legitimate competition. We welcome feedback. Anonymous feedback and cyber corporate bullying is a poor form of feedback and is often a reflection on the reviewer.

In summary then,Symbio still waste time on this nonsense whilst disregarding their customers.
Corporate keyboard warriors it appears,it's not us,it's you.
I remain a customer for now,but astounded Symbio think it possible that any competitor could do a better job of undermining them than they do themselves.

I don't know if it is still active, but I always found Symbio more responsive if I emailed - complaintresolutionmanager@symbioenergy.co.uk
If you have not already done so, I would make sure that they have an up to date read as part of the complaint.

just tried that and it's no longer working...

Well that explains why good customers like myself and many others are charged over estimated bills.

"Some people took advantage of this and have used Covid 19 to avoid paying legitimate bills" - READ: because of our chaotic billing system some customers are undercharged (e.g. £90 in credit  :* ) and these stay quiet and sit it out; whilst others are overcharged and they make a fuss and cancel their DDs. Net effect: "short-term (???) negative impact"
