I normally  send a photo thinking it will get Symbio to give a more accurate picture of my usage incase they think I am not giving them the correct figures.  However does not make any difference.

I'm guessing that a computer can't do much with a photo so it may only help in the case of a dispute Assuming that Symbio know what a dispute is.

TBH I can't get a decent photo of my meter anyway either with my mobile phone or proper camera.  It doesn't light up and as it's black numbers on a grey background it has poor contrast and is covered by a very reflective transparent window so there's not much point in trying to take or send one

    Hi
I am with Symbio for past 4 months and I have recently noticed that the FIXED rate increased. Did anyone else have similar issue?

dunno who is supposed to validate it or how they validate it but they don't seem to have much of a clue
Possibly the same mysterious third party that thinks it can see your opening meter reading better than your eyes can ?

If you're on a 'fixed rate' tariff
Your supplier can't increase the price you pay for energy unless: the government has raised VAT. you have a tariff that has structured price changes set out in advance.

For the first 8 months of being with them, they charged a lower unit rate than I'd signed up for (bonus!). So the rate on my bills recently increased, but only to what I had expected it to be all along. It's all part of the Symbio incompetence package.  Have they done the same for you?

You'll also find that the maths on Symbio bills often doesn't add up - literally.  This is because they print a figure on the bill, but occasionally appear to use a different one to actually work the total out. They also work to 4 decimal places but give intermediate subtotals to 2 decimal places, whilst working out the total using 4 decimal places. This means that there are often 1p or 2p differences between what appears on the bill and what your calculator shows you if you try to do the maths yourself.  Again, all part of Symbio's incompetence.

All of the above for me too. I am out of contract soon so looking forward to that.

They must be good for it for this to be first post, 10 months after becoming a customer.
I've been a customer for a few months less and have found them terrible.

Has anyone managed to get a solution to their stupid high estimates?   For me it seems to have started in January with the January estimate being significantly higher than Decembers, and in fact it turns out to be 88% higher than actual use.  December's and November's estimates in contrast were 4% and 6% higher that actual.

I've been in dispute with then since April.  Each month I've suggested a sensible estimate that I would accept for the following month's bill, but each month they've stubbornly stuck to using their nonsense.  Even though month after month their figures have been shown to be nonsense, and our actual use coming in at a bit less than my suggested figure.

In general my correspondence has been going round in circles with them refusing to answer quite basic questions, or suggesting I accept a fixed DD set comfortably higher than their variable bills have been.  However today I agreed to take a phone call and during that call he almost but not quite accepted that their estimates have been screwed up since January.  The current position is that I will leave the May and June bill unpaid, and assuming the July bill comes in with a sensible estimate I will settle everything at that time.  Of course I took the sensible precaution of cancelling the DD.

My complaint is with the Ombudsman Service but that process seems to take forever.  Whether this influences Symbio is anyone's guess, I'm not convinced that the guy I spoke to had even heard of the service.
