Symbio energy must have a good kick in the back side. I have received a bill no word of final on the bill, can't say I'm shocked. They have used an estimate as a final read which is way out. I made contact three times and finally get them to search the filling cabinet to find the read sent from green my new supplier and shock we have found it. They ammend my bill with the word we will debit the account of £42.67 on the 30th March and take your usual fixed direct debit of £125. Wtaf. So I have cancelled my direct debit and will send a cheque. Where is the ombudsman????

The ombudsman only gets involved if YOU have actually made a formal complaint to the supplier. He is then allowed eight weeks to try and sort it out or give you a deadlock letter, only then can YOU ask the ombudsman to intervene. They don't just randomly get involved however incompetent the supplier.

A whinge, moan or even argument, either to the supplier or on this forum is not a proper complaint and wont be recorded as a complaint.

The earlier you register a formal complaint the quicker you should be able to sort it out because it starts the clock ticking. If it gets escalated to the ombudsman it costs the company money and they get another black mark against them

OFGEM might eventually get involved if they get see that a high number of complaints are being made but a complaint is not official until it's been through the proper process.

    From OFGEM website:

On 25 March 2020, the Authority received satisfactory evidence from The Smart Energy Code Administrator and Secretariat (SECAS) that Symbio had completed all the required steps to become a DCC user and had therefore met the requirements set out in the Final Order for it to be able to acquire new customers and add new customer accounts by upgrading to dual fuel.

I note that Symbio are back on USwitch and would offer the cheapest fixed rate.

For the past 4 years I have had my electricity and gas supplied by different suppliers - at present this is not the best strategy and I will be moving to Outfox the Market for BOTH electricity and gas. Will be interesting to see how Symbio handle the final bill, for the time being I owe them a few quid.

The best way to do business with Symbio is not to interact with them apart from 1 meter reading a month.
It's been working for me for the last 6 months just fine :)

Just had a look at that well known review site.

It seems Symbio have decided to spend their time and effort writing their own 5 star reviews and then thanking themselves for those sparkling reviews, rather than dealing with real customer complaints.
    - they have not even attempted to be subtle about it.

Seems to have been a concerted effort over the past 12 days (since 16th March 2020), presumably in preparation for again being allowed to accept new customers/being reinstated on comparison sites as per the Ofgem announcement mentioned above.

Well, Symbio, if you are reading this (and I know you do regularly  ), please note that doesn't get your bills paid.

But if you don't want my money, that's fine by me; remember I'm still consuming your electricity whether I'm paying for it or not.

I was just wondering if anyone else had missed the Symbio announcement that they now supply gas too?

Or was that only available during the period Ofgem had banned Symbio from acquiring any new customers or adding any customer accounts by upgrading to dual fuel?
An order that was not lifted until 25th March 2020 as stated above.

I suspect many or most reviews are fakes, companies praising their own products and services, and rubbishing their competitors.  The post has all the hallmarks of a fake review: first time poster, gushing praise for a named person (do real customers ever make a note?), poor command of English etc.
Symbio's website makes no mention of gas, and they're not listed as having launched any gas tariffs.
Perhaps the reviewer meant a change from single rate to E7?

I thought exactly the same. Very naughty of them.
