Symbio actually ask you to do that in their confirmation of leaving email. But I think they are also supposed to confirm the reading back to the new supplier when it reaches them through the validator.

The guy at Green was brilliant. He told me exactly why I hadn't been billed. So I told him but I'd supplied the reading to you. He said yes I can see that but your previous supplier haven't confirmed it. He said he would get straight onto them and chase up the confirmation however if they don't confirm it a pdf of my final settled bill would suffice. Therefore the blame lies with symbio I reckon. After my conversation about compensation I have no faith whatsoever in symbio
  • Even if you've supplied the reading to both supplier, before the new one can bill you they need confirmation that the old supplier is also happy with this reading.

Just because you have a bill with that reading on from the old supplier doesn't mean they've accepted the reading for the supplier to then use that reading as the new one.

I can't believe I'm going to be defending Symbio Energy, but on this one I feel I must do.

It sounds like you may have jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire with your new choice of supplier.

When you switch supplier, you should provide the opening reading to that new supplier.
That then gets sent off to the independant meter reading agency for validation.
It's nothing to do with the old supplier, unless you failed to supply that opening meter reading.

As you have received your final bill from Symbio that presumably contained the final meter reading you supplied to the new supplier, then the system has worked.

That means any delay by your new supplier to bill you is entirely down to them, and they are unfortunately fobbing you off by attempting to blame others.

I'm sure it will get sorted. But never before have I had a customer service rep beg me to waive a compensation claim. That's how slim a Margin symbio are operating on.

It's probably slimmer than they think, as they presumably don't know that they're giving away free electricity?!

Like I said I was chasing them for 60 pounds compensation. I didn't get it all. The guy really begged me to waive it. He was sighing and fretting because it was obvious I wasn't taking no for an answer then he started bartering and we agreed a settlement. It was higher than he wanted and you could hear the disappointment in his voice.

How very classy of symbio. I've received an email about a newsletter subscription, which is opt-out not opt-in.
