I joined mid december. So far i have used 780kw and been billed for 1800KW. I complained by email 10 days ago but other than an acknowledgment after 3 days saying they would look into it within 48hours and respond nothing other than another grossly overestimated bill has arrived. Has anyone cancel the direct debit in Symbios favour in an attempt to get some action?
Also how do set up alerts on a thread in this new forum?0 -
Did their gross over-estimates not get consolidated out on subsequent bills? That's how they work, month by month. You must provide them with monthly readings though, otherwise they have nothing to consolidate against. Until the end of last year their estimates were approximately annual consumption divided by 12, so each month there was a minor correction either way against metered use and everyone was happy. This year they've started using stupid over-estimates (winter consumption is their excuse) which means each bill involves a deduction for the previous over-estimation following by a charge for the coming month's over-estimation - and so it goes on. But as long as you provide monthly meter readings, the billing is only ever "ahead" by whatever the previous month's over-estimation percentage was.Kayster said:I joined mid december. I have typically used around 350kw per month over many years.Talldave said:

I have given them accurate meter readings a couple of days before the end of each month when requested.
They billed for
Dec 2019 169kw (only 10 days as i joined part way through month.)
Jan 2020 630 KW
Feb 439 kw
Mar 535 kw.
Total 1775kw.
The meter readings i have given them over same period total 775kw.
Something is not right and when they do not respond in a timely fashion it gets worrying. 11 Days since original contact, then an email from them saying will be looked into in 48 hours then nothing for over a week.0 -
I cancelled the dd because of the incorrect amount they were planning to take. I then paid by bank transfer for the current month which was then February and refused to pay the outstanding balance because there was never one. However by taking this action of cancelling the dd made no difference. I had to be pro active all the time.Kayster said:I joined mid december. So far i have used 780kw and been billed for 1800KW. I have now reinstated the dd because I was assured everything was correct and gave them a picture of my meter read on the 29.2 and they even phoned me to confirm received. Also entered the read myself online. However for some unknown reason my meter reads now only go up to 31.1. and so far no bill received for March. I'm not emailing or phoning them anymore and have a complete record of all my reads and bills.1 -
You can ignore the March 535 as that's billing in advance for what you haven't used yet.Kayster said:
