Scam what scam. You just have to be careful you are on the correct site and that applies to any website you care to mention.helmsy157 said:hi guys, been reading the various comments re symbio and talk of moving to green energy, please note that there may be a scam here when you try to go to their site and find you are logged into another "green" supplier. Had a search round and found another supplier who has been here a while, has a good trust pilot rating and prices close to others above for me fixed with £5 exit fee and 22.05 and 14.99 look forward to comments0 -
Symbio are offering 10.87p per kWh and 19.5p, which is cheaper. Even better, of course, if the free units continue....CRISPIANNE3 said:I am transferring to Green Energy, Newcastle Upon Tyne and they are cheaper for me. than Symbio. The rate is 10.87 per kw and 20.00p a day standing charge and that includes the VAT. So Symbio perhaps not so cheaper after all.0 -
It's not Ofgem that validates meter readings, but an independant meter reading validation agency. If they've not been validated by the time the bill is produced, then an estimate may be used by the supplier.Talldave said:I emailed Symbio to ask why they ignored my meter reading this month, despite issuing the bill 5 days after the reading was provided, when they normally use the reading in a bill generated 2 or 3 days after the reading is provided. I got a cut & paste reply, the same as the emails you get when you submit a reading, that they send the readings to the regulator for validation. I believe that to be a lie, since Ofgem don't dabble in monthly meter reads do they?
As the supplier indicates, the reading should be validated (or maybe rejected) by the time the next bill monthly is produced.

compared to So Energy that charge 13.230 pence per kWh and 22.050 pence per day

Surely the independent meter reading validation agency doesn't check every monthly reading, only the final reading where the customer is switching supplier?

Ignoring the issue of Symbio's lies, I cannot believe that it takes more than a smidgen of CPU load and a few microseconds to run the checking algorithm on a single input value and return either TRUE or FALSE as a result or, as I suspect, return a reading value either equal to the submitted value or adjusted according to the super secret (but often crap) industry algorithm.DawnCrush said:

Why, therefore, this task cannot be completed in 5 days when it's usually adequately handled in 2 or 3 is puzzling.Of course what I'm most annoyed about is that by ignoring my reading I was excluded from this month's free units giveaway game.Gerry1 said:Surely the independent meter reading validation agency doesn't check every monthly reading, only the final reading where the customer is switching supplier?
I guess that depends whether Symbio ask them to? I've asked previously, and not had an answer, whether that costs Symbio per "check" or whether they're paying a flat rate for as many checks as they want.I don't believe a word Symbio write, since what they write is a lie anyway, so I guess I'll never know whether the super secret industry body sees all my readings.

Can I ask which currently available tariff that is please, CRISPIANNE3?CRISPIANNE3 said:I am transferring to Green Energy, Newcastle Upon Tyne and they are cheaper for me. than Symbio. The rate is 10.87 per kw and 20.00p a day standing charge and that includes the VAT. So Symbio perhaps not so cheaper after all.
e.g. Green's Ampere tariff in Newcastle upon Tyne is 20p/day but 11.298p/kWh
https://green.energy/tariffs
Whereas Symbio would charge 19.5p/day and 11.164p/ kWh on their Winter Monthly Plan February 20 v2 tariff (again for Newcastle Upon Tyne area)

I will have to pay Symbio an exit fee (reluctantly) but their fix finished in early November.DawnCrush said:

In the Which report it was stated to save on staff costs they use software. If that makes sense.Talldave said:

That's odd, as it's not what they specify on their own website.CRISPIANNE3 said:.Details as sent to me from GreenYour tariff

May I ask where you found that detail, before you even applied to Green, and hence drove you to make that application?
