Good and Bad Buying at Lidl and Aldi (***Please don't expire***)

The middle-aisle specials haven't been all that, lately. It's been mostly gardening stuff, and I'd decided planting wouldn't happen when lockdown started. Not worth breaking the rules for some compost, and I have plenty of garden furniture. No man is worth crawling on this earth.
So much to read, so little time.0 -

Not remotely what most customers want yet, but it’s a start. The sooner the better - costing an arm and a leg from Tesco and Sainsbury for unavoidable deliveries at the moment. They won’t be standard Aldi prices, but they’ll still undercut the majors.

Went to Lidl. Seeing that they are letting in couples in again. Probably saw about three in total. As was buying shopping for my parents and a family friend that can't get out. On working out how much they were owing me, noticed that one of the orange stickered items I was charged full price and for two of them. So about £2.60 out of pocket.
Rang Lidl customer service and explained about the above. Given me a reference number which I wrote on the receipt and show it to the cashier on my next visit. So I will get my £2.60 off.
Is this a new thing? Never been overcharged before.0 -

I have been told by my shop manager that they are changing the orange sticker to now have its own barcode rather than them having to push the button on the till to reduce it.

I went to Aldi this week for the first time since Lockdown began. I was quite impressed with their infection controls - they had a well-stocked cleaning station just inside the front door, and they had dividing barriers between parallel customer queues at the tills (which is something I've not seen anywhere else). There was no queue to go in, and no queues at the tills.
Since I'd been away for several weeks, I was not surprised to see many products had been given new packaging, and in some cases new recipe/new sizes. In particular, the pre-packaged fruit and nut selections have been given a complete makeover. The Tropical Mix, which used to be the same size, weight and quality as the Lidl version is now huge, but still the same weight, and the laws of physics dictate that it is now full of lighter ingredients such as banana chips and toasted coconut. Much less of heavier ingredients like raisins, nuts and dried tropical fruit.
The 4-pack small pots of fruit in juice/syrup have returned after what must be a year, and now have attractive packaging using photos of the fruit inside.
They also had supplies of pocket-size hand sanitiser and (well done to Aldi) they are still only asking 42p for it.2
