Good and Bad Buying at Lidl and Aldi (***Please don't expire***)

I agree on ALDI. Both Morrisons and Tesco here went through serious "empty shelf" territory during the panic buying and beyond, ALDI seemed to operate pretty much as normal. ALDI are doing something right that the bigger names aren't!dollypeeps said:Both Aldi and Lidl here have mostly been stocked well during this pandemic...

Say what you like about the Germans but they know how to do things right. Supermarkets, industry, sport, corona virus, health service...
This country and others would do well to follow how they do things.0 -

I am finding their stock of fresh food can be a bit hit and miss at night, but I'd rather miss out on two or three items than have to queue and then navigate a busy supermarket during the day. Although I have discovered that a Tesco in a local retail park can be fairly quiet on Tuesday mornings. The cashier said it was usually their quietest day and more people are shopping at the weekends. I did pass it around the same time on Wednesday, and there was a big queue. While out doing a wee delivery tonight, I passed a couple of supermarkets (Morrison's & Tesco) to see if there was much of a queue, and drove home without stopping as both had surprisingly large queues for 7pm - though I guess it's pay day for many today. I'll wait a couple of days longer and go back to Aldi instead.....Rosa_Damascena said:I always knew that late evenings to be a good time to shop in Aldi, but even more so now avoiding other people is paramount. Apart from being nearly empty of other shoppers, it was well-stocked - the only things I couldn't get hold of were lemons and large containers of semi-skimmed milk. I have no plans to queue outside a supermarket again.0 -
Since lockdown, I have stuck to one visit to ALDI or Lidl per week. Parents give me a couple of items mid week which I requested. Once I went to Morrisons late afternoon and went straight inside.
Managed to get a slot next Wednesday with Tesco - there were loads. Got a cheap slot. This is going to be used on things A or L don’t sell. For example, their own Muller Light Greek style only have 2-3 flavours. Never seen a mango one in A or L before. Also soda crystals. Never seen these in the two

I think I must be lucky with my Lidl & Aldi, living in a less populated area seems to give easier access without queueing, not had to queue at either shop yet.1

I am having Aldi withdrawal symptoms, I am using online shopping as isolating to protect a person I care for who is shielding. So I am missing all my faves from Aldi. Oh and its cheaper as well. Never thought I would say it but missing the middle aisle too. Everyone take care and stay safeYoursCalley x

Can you not get someone to shop there for you?
You would not get the experience and may not get the bargains but you would get the prices

Thanks. I know you can get the middle aisle delivered but I like to get the bargains when they reduce it. No, I have no one else to shop for me. I am shopping for myself and the shielding person who lives else where. I am just going to have to wait.YoursCalley x
