When you said the entrance to Aldi was full of stuff, do you mean the hand sanitiser and disinfectant spray?
In the larger Aldi near me that's the case in a sort of porch area. In my favourite one it's just inside the door.
This was the Wednesday before Easter and the porch area was full of Easter eggs and other Easter confectionery. Most of this stuff was in the porch. Really stupid idea at the time
IIRC this was before the traffic light system was put on the doors. They had a person controlling the numbers and there seemed to be fewer people let in and no crowding round the door. Personally I preferred it that way but it did create queues outside which would have been a problem as weather deteriorated. ☹️

There are spaced queues at check out too...
There may be for you, but not for me. As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the floor markings in our Aldi have disappeared, which makes little sense to me. I'd be interested to know if it's just our store, or whether they've been removed elsewhere.

I don’t know about Aldi but it sounds like what the local Lidl has done. There are no floor markers or signs anymore to guide customers to spacing. Apart from a nearly empty sanitiser bottle at the door, its just like it was back before Covid. No one on the door on a Sunday afternoon so it was a complete free for all.

The more responsible customers queued up the aisles and tried their best to space out but others just push in front anyway.

There are 10 manned checkouts, only 3 or 4  have screens. So the last few times people are being served on screen free checkouts like the old days. To be honest its more for the protection of the staff who have to stand there for much longer, but it seems really lax.

Having been in Morrisons and a Iceland they seemed to have it managed much better.

  • Aldi's 4-pack of tinned baked beans @99p have deteriorated in quality recently to now resemble bean soup - far too much watery flavourless sauce.
If they keep up this sort of behaviour while increasing their overpriced "special" ranges of foods they will undoubtedly see their once-stellar rise in fortunes falter.

Oh that's a shame, I quite like them, especially now W8rose have stopped the 4 packs, on line at least, maybe in shops?

Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • Freezer stock in Aldi has been updated now with all the snack [arty food which are amazing! 12 mozzarella stick for just over £1 yes please :)

No, only separate tins in shops now too. We usually stock up on Waitrose beans, as we like them best, but rarely shop there for anything else. Last week we were limited to buying 4 tins, something to do with panic buying.

I've tried a few random things from the freezer section that was on special offer at Lidl but I will never ever buy them again.  The items included some kind of gratin (it just wouldn't cook and it felt like I was eating a brick), potato croquettes with cheese and spinach (gave me nightmares of hash browns from school when I was a teen) in them and some kind of little minced fish dumpling things (they smelt really strange and were salted really really strongly).  All of them went in the bin which is a shame but I will stick to what I know and not try new things I am not sure of.

I do love their prawn cocktail crisps though, overly flavoured and so yummy!

Earlier today, I was at Lidl. Scanned my Lidl Plus card QR code. It beeped and didn't take off the coupons - % off Meadow Fresh (salad leaves, coleslaw, dips etc), % off snacking fruit and nuts and a free Halloween doughnut. Scanned it again and it came up with an error message. Manager gave me the refund for £1.40. But it has not registered the amount I have spent on the shopping on the cumulative total for the £2 off £100.

od244051, did you do anything about this, did you contact Lidl? I went to a different Lidl store Thursday. It didn't take off the coupons and like you, the Manager gave me the refund for that. It did register the amount I spent though. Today I went to my normal Lidl and for the only time was nearly at my £100 spend. However, none of their machines were working, so what I spent could not be added, the cashier told me to contact Customer Services about it. On contacting Customer Services, they tell me the spend cannot be added retrospectively, so that was a waste of time.
