Good and Bad Buying at Lidl and Aldi (***Please don't expire***)

I’ve been shopping regularly at Lidl the last few months, and they have been pretty well stocked and easy for a quick shop.
But last few visits it has been awful in terms of any safety measures. People ramming you out the way in the aisles and pushing up behind on the tills, the staff don’t seem to have any safety screens anymore at the end of the checkout and don’t say anything to the people who are pushing around even on the checkoutNone of this was too bad in the summer but recently its just probably not worth the stress of visiting these particular stores. My local also seems to have encouraged a crush at the entrance by having a promotional display as soon as you walk in.0 -
Went into Lidl today and there was packets of corned beef on the shelves that were two days out of dateYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0

Easy to miss something like that and the last thing the staff needs is someone complaining about it without telling them.2 -

Aldi meanwhile has plastic screens around the cashier and plastic sheeting hanging between neighbouring tills to protect queueing customers. It can be difficult in the aisles as it's easy to become impatient when someone is taking an age to choose an item (seems to happen a lot around the meat ) but passing an arm in front of someone for a few seconds to grab a packet of bacon isn't going to give me the virus. There are spaced queues at check out too (not that Aldi has many queues) but I'm happy with a trolley's length between me and other customers.2 -
I visited an Aldi in April and it has a small entrance area full of stuff.
The screens on the checkouts in all supermarkets, shops and other places such as museums, libraries etc will be in place well after the virus goes. As they cost these businesses a lot of money. Plus gives the person behind the screens more protection.
Some shops may get rid of the screens between the self scans as most of the supermarkets I have used - every other self checkout is closed as customers stand in the area of the closed self checkouts to get approved, to get staff member to remove security device etc0 -
When you said the entrance to Aldi was full of stuff, do you mean the hand sanitiser and disinfectant spray?
In the larger Aldi near me that's the case in a sort of porch area. In my favourite one it's just inside the door.0 -
Tried the cherry flavoured filling, milk chocolate from Lidl today, it comes in @ 59p and is just about worth that.
The taste is not overpowering, just enough to mix with the chocolate to be pleasant.
It comes under the banner 'Polish Taste' so I don't know how long it will be on the shelf.0 -
