Morning fplks
Greetings from sunny Barcelona! If you haven't been here I recommend it!
Very dangerous level of excellent shops though
Luckily my cold has abated enough to enjoy it. Just a bit stuffy and a dry throat now.
Will try to keep the faith where I can
Clf xLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
CLF: Enjoy Barcelona! Extremely envious as it's grey, blustery and wet outside my window!!
My day off today and I'm in admin mode. I went swimming last night so I can spend the day hibernating indoors without feeling guilty. :j
Todays list:
Renew car insurance - a partly converted campervan means we struggle to get insurance from most companies so I need to go with our existing company. It's still £50 cheaper than last year though (although I've noticed a couple of sneaky clauses this time, particularly that the policy is void if we don't carry a working fire extinguisher - who knew?!?)
Money shuffle means we can pay in one lump to get the cheapest price. :money: Done and remembered to put on CC to get cashback. Will transfer money from current account into a 'holding' account to pay off at the end of the month:D
Update mega-money spreadsheet An ongoing project as I'm constantly re-designing it. Needs a good hour or so looking at as I'm juggling our SOA around
Check banking/new cc statements
Find some money to pay for various school trips/scout camps.
Ring a promotion for a free copy of a magazine DS would like (check for catches first)Done - they are sending him 3 copies
Write/post some letters that have been lurking in the 'in' tray for ages
Go to Post Office for a bag of £1 and 50p coins for school/pocket money This has saved us a lot over the last couple of months. It saves us running to the cash machine, then buying something to get the required change, with the rest then getting spent without thinking.
Sync diary/calendar I think I've double booked a couple of things Done, and have indeed double booked. All sorted now and a lesson learned!
Wrap present from stash for birthday party tomorrow
Just about to do dishwasher/going over the kitchen before setting up at the computer with a pot of tea and HWB for the day! Mum popped in so was a little late getting started. Have mopped floor now so not too bad0 -
Morning all,
A very dark wet windy day here.
Todays list
* ys bread for toast with eggs for ds1 as usual
* ds2 to free school breakfast club
* dh working from home so a fuel (and time) saving there - and hes very impressed with his "new" desk, I think this has saved £50 minimum from what he was looking at!
* took his car to the garage where they took less then a minute to solve a little niggle he was having with his car and best of all - no charge
* ds1 has chewing gum smeared across a pair of trousers  currently they're in the freezer to see if I can save them
* popped to Mr T which was next to the garage and had lots of unplanned spends!
- bought 2 sets of replacement school trousers for ds1 - if I do manage to get the icky ones sorted I'll take one set back and keep one but this time of year I struggle to get the right size/fit and colour so got 2 sets as I saw them
- some pajamas we bought ds2 for xmas are now reduced from £14 to £6 - I bought another pair of his current size and 2 pairs of the next size up which I have put into the Xmas gifts box ready for him - they're Harry Potter ones so I know he'll love them again! (and the current pair washes really nicely)
- £150 worth of vue cinema gift cards as they were 20% off - this is using money gifted to us all for xmas from my MIL - we did the same thing last year and it worked really well.
- a reduced price black coat ready for ds1 to grow into as his current coat is looking short in the body
Still to do
* wash a load in now(or maybe 2) on the quick 30 degree wash Done
* hang washing on radiators to dry - heating will be on more as dh is sat at his desk Done
* clean kitchen using star drops and cloths
* cut up some old towels ready for use as decorators rags etc Done
* check banking/ update spreadsheet & email back to myself done and shuffled money between budgets to straighten up this mornings spends from gifts/entertainment & clothings budgets
* check onepoll for surveys
* general tidy round to get back on top of things after another busy week.
* triage fridge Done, best way to make sure nothing gets wasted
* update freezer inventory
* check use up box and see what I need to be getting to make these things into complete meals Done
* write a new shopping list Done well started
** received a £5 lovetoshop voucher from rm and a free diary from someone else, not sure why!
** sorted through box with hats/scarfs and gloves - pair things up and added a few bits to the charity shop bag
** put a beef casserole in the big slow cooker to cook overnight - quick and easy meals for the weekend when no one fancies cooking because the rugby is on!
** small slow cooker has some manky potatoes and leeks to make dh's fave soup, put in chicken stock that I made the other day but there it far too much so reducing the other part of stock down in a pan now to freeze for another day.
** lunch was the last of the bacon in a butty and I cut open the bottle of brown sauce and scraped it out so there wasn't any wasted
Thats my starter, take care all and have a good day.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Afternoon all
Ridiculous morning spent delivering a garden stand to a local department store, where a member of staff was buying it. Asked OH to help me put it in the car, but although he came out willingly enough, his assistance consisted of standing to one side and making supportive comments while I struggled with it, because he didn't want to get wet feet in the puddle behind the car. Then I had to go inside the rather posh store to look for the lady, looking like I had been dragged through a hedge because of the wind and rain, with mud on my coat from the garden stand :rotfl:
Apart from that debacle:
Cooked HG fruit from freezer for breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit
Took some new items to sales unit while I was out in the car, and was pleased to see that some things had sold :T
Load of washing, which will have to dry on the airer as it is horrible outside today. Includes a J0ules dress I found at the market the other day for £2. It would fit me, but I don't think I could carry off the wishy washy colour and huge roses  so I will sell it a bit later on when the weather improves (it is a summer dress). Hope it makes a good profit as I will need to iron it  :rotfl:
Clean mud off coat (see above)
Sold a couple more small ebay items
Sorted out business stock in loft, looking out things for sales unit and some stuff I am sending to auction. Pleased to see I don't have too much, as it is coming up to stocktaking time, and the less I have, the less of a pain that is!
My new propagator arrived and OH put it together for me - the instructions were in diagrams instead of words, and I can never fathom them out - I must have the wrong sort of brain
All food from home
Not spent anything :A
Wow, enjoy Barcelona CLF :j0 -
Morning all
Very quiet on here today, so thought I would stop and say hello
DD + kids are coming round in a minute, so there is no point in my making ambitious plans.
Tied hair back instead of washing it, though knowing me I will wash it this evening as it will drive me mad :rotfl:
Had HG cooked fruit for breakfast instead of bought fruit
Did a quick sweep round - must do some proper housework soon
I have a load of washing on the go, which I hope to be able to peg outside, though not sure how likely that is, as I see a big black cloud approaching!
There is plenty of food in the house, and I don't intend spending anything unless GD asks for a 'magazine' at the corner shop :rotfl:
Hope everyone is having a nice day0 -
Morning frugal pals :hello:
CLF hope you're having an amazing time in Barcelona. I'm on a 'I wat to achieve something kind of day' so I have /will
Vacuumed and swept downstairs and the stairs
Sorted one box from out building
Sorted cupboard under the sink  found some things for use up box in terms of cleaning
Couple of loads of washing
Post a fleabay sale
Look after my godson for the morning
Try and paint 1 wall so we can hang something
Get just the 3 things I need from the butcher
Small to pre paid activities
Lit candle
Wash don't put in the washing machine lunch boxes in the washing machine on a quick wash
Sort out a bag for cs and take if I have time
Try and attempt socks again tonight. Got about 2 cm in and realised 1 had 2 extra stitches (worked out where they came from so can avoid next time) but I'd also gone wrong somewhere so my purl and knit were out of sink so I undid it)
Try and go for run or gym later
Give blood
Use free hot drink voucher this afternoon
Have a good day all. Purps.0 -
Afternoon everyone
Been quite productive, managed to get a decent nights sleep last night which has made a big difference.
Popped into town this morning to do a few bits including-
Dropping items off at the CS
Bits to do at the post office
Picked up a couple of items needed in town-used vouchers from RM surveys
Popped to local garden centre for an item I was after and to see if they had any cardboard boxes. Had a voucher aswell so only 91p spent on a bath bomb set and managed to get one box.
Back home have done some 'basic' hw.
Needed to take an antibiotic that are like bullets so had a snack of cereal to take the awful thing. DD didnt like the cereal and I refused to throw it out so I started to have it as a snack as it turns out I really liked it
Packed up one box ready for sending Monday-RM stamps used for postage.
Managed to scrape together enough packaging to package up another parcel, again RM stamps used.
DW and WM have been on.
Heating has been off and windows open to give the house abit of an airing
Going to feed cats in a minute and do food for me(still eating from the freezer) and that's it for me for the day.
Been the first productive day in ages so very happy.....hopefully it will last:)
Have a great weekend everyone xDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi all,
Very little to report today:
*Only spent £2.50
*Leftover roasted butternut macaroni cheese tonight (the squash was gifted to me by allotment owning friends & the pasta was also free but is complicated saga).
*Sorted out jewellery box & mended lots of items within.
*Downstairs heating off till 5pm.
*Discovered a lipstick I've gone off doubles as a nicely subtle free blusher.
*Homegrown cooked fruit from freezer instead of bought.
*Broke up remains of a burned out scented candle to use as wax melts. Loads of fragrance left.
*Update DFW diary.

Morning frugal pals :hello:
Just a few things today as our weekends are really over too quickly and I want to spend some quality time with family. Will include:
Put some stuff in loft, look for a part so I can donate something to a friend
Put cs stuff in car - 1 step nearer to leaving the house
Use some left over roast ham for a 'free' roast from Christmas meat
Make sausage rolls
Make a fruit cake
Get packed lunches ready for tomorrow
Check an account who emailed me to say they couldn't send my order and then in turned up yesterday
DH and I to both use gym membership
Think that'll do for now. Have a good day everyone. Purps.0 -
Morning
yesterday marked day 1 of 10 days off
Work has been pretty intense recently and it is quite something to work flat out for 12 hours I can tell you! Yesterday I was feeling worse for wear as I went out Friday night, so not much to report!
Today:
* going to have a quick tidy round in a minute
* picking up pup today, so 2 x walks. Forecast is saying it is going to be raining all day so woodland walks with lots of ball throwing!
* all meals from stores
* feeling very jel of Purp's spurt of activity. Might see if I can persuade oh to to finish packing up items in lounge and do the sanding....
* finish jumpsuit :j
* hang up washing & do another load
* hw and reading with madam
Think that's all. Happy Sunday guys xDF as at 30/12/16
