Please tell me how to deal with a hubby who keeps things for the following reasons:
I might sell it and I'll need the box (he's a hoarder he never sells anything)
If I need to send it back (stuff is either out of warrently or in a flight case)
Because I want to!!!!!
It's mine, we MIGHT need it.
We have a mountain of cardboard boxes, an old bike frame, Wood, an old table top and legs, and soooo much other stuff.
I cannot cope with it all. We are drowning in stuff. I keep decluttering my stuff, (but I'm 'not allowed' to declutter gifts, especially from him!') we've been in this house 15 years

I wish I knew the answer wishing then I could use it myself. When my vacuum died DH wanted to keep the tools. Just in case. We didn't but it "hurt" him.0

I have been there too with ex h ubby, I just waited till he was out, and throw a couple of things from the loft out to the tip, and be watching telly when he got back all innocent like!!
There is not a lot you can do, except keep asking when it is going, or just be mean and order a skip get it filled, and collected the same day.
I have just decluttered a 2 hour sleep! wopsBreast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Hi all x
Thats work done. I'm home and I've stuck a load in the WM.
Going for a HHC starting now if anyone fancies keeping me company?I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Kitchen clean; bathroom clean. Now ploughing through a frog.
I'm out at meetings tomorrow night and Thursday night so will probably post the rest of the week tonight.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Hi all
Just checking in quickly - been at the paid stuff all day and back at a meeting soon. Bathroom was given a quick going over this morning, some clean washing to put away. DH is being extra helpful, bless him.0 -
Thank you for the solidarity. I do do the 'few things put at a time that he'll never miss' but we really need a wholesale clearout. I've done the skip thing before. He's never noticed.
There is a bootful to go to the tip tomorrow. Might see what else I can sneak out at the same time.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

So my HHC went like this
Phone plugged into the speaker and music put on
Washed up
Put the washing on for another spin
Tidied up the kitchen while deciding what to make for dinner
Emptied the WM on to the winterdyke
Then I was stopped in my tracks when DS2 came in. Had decided I would make a veg chilli but he won't eat that so made omelettes. I've stuck another load in the WM. Admired DS2's new tattoo. Forced him to wash his hair because it looked minging. DD now decluttered to dancing. Just having a wee cuppa before I fling the next load on the winterdyke.I'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
Evening all, back with a proper update:
The woodworm treatment was completed yesterday, the house is habitable again, but not sorted (going to have the living room and dining room decorated while all is in uproar.).
Tomorrow I have a full day to myself to do chores and fly. Here is my list.
Mount washmore (potentially I will wash it at home and take it all to the laundrette to be dried. We need to pack to go away again, so I've not got a long turnaround)
Make a shepherd's pie for tea tomorrow night & a chicken & mushroom pie for Thursday.
At least 1 tip trip
Bins out (3 weekly bin collection on Thursday)
Tidy kitchen. (Do some 'kon mariing in there)
Start packing to go away.
Admire my less cluttered cellar.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)
