    Ah Arnold Clark.

Speak to Hyundia head office direct.

I wouldn't put too much faith in 'managers car'.

    It's probably ex hire.

Arnold Clark have said there’s nothing they can do do they’ll contact Hyundai and ask them to call me so hopefully I’ll get better service from them. Have found out Arnold Clark are a member of some ombudsman though and I’d had the car less than 6 months then I reported it so if I need to escalate it I think I will. Other than that i love the car so it’s a shame this is making it all seem so sour. Do you think Hyundai will be more helpful?

Did Arnold Clark offer to fix the issue at your cost?

I'd go straight to Hyundia UK direct, speak to customer services and express how much of a loyal fan you are etc etc.

Seems weird how only certain paint areas are covered.

I've spoken to manufacturers direct before and had things resolved when the dealer wanted to charge me.
  • As far as I can see from my experience with an i10 Hyundai should advertise their warranty at ten years or even a hundred years.

They seem to have little interest in honoring it - so why not claim any amount and just fob off customers.

Shame as I like the i10 but Hyundai support is seriously lacking.

Unfortunately with Hyundai, customer service seems to be an optional extra :-(

I've had a new flywheel and clutch installed under warranty in the last month of the warranty, and a new air condenser 2 days before the warranty expired. So some times its good....
  • For the dealer to say it's not covered they must be 100% sure it's been caused by external damage. As for not getting chips above the window ...that is a load of rubbish, I have 2 4x4 cars and both have more stone chips along the roof line than the bonnet/bumper etc.
It will depend on the aerodynamic shape of the car

Not sure if this is relevant or not but I’ve just checked the service book and when they did the first year service they’ve not stamped to say they've done the anti perforation check which they should’ve done.

Who is they ? Arnold Clark or a Hyundai main dealer. If AC then be prepared for Hyundai to reject and have to battle with AC

kaggi....if you Google Hyundai rust problems the first item returned is a very interesting thread on the Pistonheads forum regarding a Hyundai i40 where the problem appears very similar to yours.

Thanks, I did that and it looks exactly the same. Sadly I couldn’t post to their forum as I’ve now managed to get Hyundai to agree to carry out the work as a paint warranty claim. When the paint was measured on the car the roof had less than the manufacturers agreed standard. It’s been a stressful few weeks and I’d like to make sure anyone with the same issue insists on the paint being measured.
