How are you going to pay for your fuel ?

Our fuel bill wasn't too bad after hubby changed jobs. He went from spending £30 a week on fuel to get to work at this point last year to only spending £30 a month (a full tank) on petrol recently for our family journeys. However, I have always budgeted £50 a month just in case we spend more than normal. Now I have passed my test, I will be able to use the car whenever I want, so the fuel bill will undoubtedly rise. I am hoping it will be swallowed by the leftover £20 budget. I don't want to spend more than £50 a month on fuel when we live fairly central. I don't have to drive to school as it is only round the corner, and can if necessary walk to town. I will only need to use it for the weekly food shop and ballet lessons, and any family visiting. I guess we are quite lucky that we can manage to do a lot without our car because of where we live, so we can cut back more easily than if we needed to commute to work.Olympic Countdown Challenge #145 ~ DFW Nerd #389 ~ Debt Free Date: [STRIKE]December 2015[/STRIKE] September 2015

I have no choice but to use my car at the moment. My place of work is just over 30 miles away and fairly in a fairly rural location.
It takes me about 50 minutes to drive there and 50 minutes to drive back. I did once investigate public transport but found it would double (at least) the travelling time without the extra walking in between so it'll remain the car for me.
My car though is petrol driven and petrol prices haven't yet reached the £1 per litre yet.
I have found that petrol in the town I live in is about 2-3p per gallon more expensive than the rural petrol station on my route to work so I fill up at the rural station.
I have been getting the 5p per litre off till spit from Mr T's recently but I refuse to buy petrol from them any more since the fiasco with the dodgy petrol earlier this year.
So, I guess I'll just have to find savings elsewhere.I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

yesIf there was some sort of grant to get a smart car I would have one of those. Until then I will just have to put up with paying a lot for petrol for my old rover which does about 20 miles to the gallon. I also have to go to work at stupid o clock when there is no public transport. And the though of getting up at 3.30 to bike instead of 4.30 to drive is too exhausting to think about.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

i dread to think about how much it will cost but i have no choice as it will take 4x as long to get to work on public transport.0

I was just glancing down the thread titles on the forum and thought this one said 'How are you going to pay for your funeral?'
I thought somebody was feeling really pessimistic today!:rotfl:
