Thanks for the replies, The house has not been taken off the market but things are slow here in NW Lincolnshire.
We have priced to sell, just £8k more than a neighbour sold for last year but that was a cash only sale as there is an ongoing problem with the lease. Ours is freehold.0 -
I have a policy of not selling to FTBs, unless there are no other offers for just this reason.
I don't have time to be some snowflakes mummy.
I would put it straight back on the market and try for an investor.Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0 -

Is every first time buyer a snowflake? I didn't know I was young enough to be a snowflake. Certainly don't want my seller to be my mummy, she is old and wrinkly....might pass away before the purchase completes to be honest :AAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0 -
I think this has less to do about the FTB's and more to do with your Estate Agent not vetting them properlyAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

Have you accepted an offer? You don't clarify. If you've accepted an offer, what stopped you putting in offers on the properties you were interested in? Maybe they cancelled the survey because they're waiting for you to find somewhere before they fork out on a survey?0

Not me, only got a survey beyond the mortgage's one to placate OH's parents. It was a 20's council house sold in the 50's (yes in the 50's) and probablt not updated since beyond an exact re-wire (yes 3 sockets in the house!), lead pipes for gas lighting in all the walls. Some damp (unoccupied for 2 years so...). But perfect for me. 120% mortgage (thouse were the days). Couple of years to do up then remortgaged again as the costs were more than an extra 20% (the worth of the house more than doubled).
Later on sold it to a first time buyer. Had no issues.
I'm sure many X time buyers are just as painful to deal with as some first time buyers.
You cannot fit everything into nice little boxes however much you want to.0 -
I didn't quite follow - are they asking the agent which bank YOUR mortgage is with, or which bank their own mortgage is with?
There is at least a legitimate reason for the former - you can be reasonably confident that the current owner's bank views the property as good security0 -
Finchy2018 No, they haven't made any offers yet. They asked the agent if 10% less than asking price would do but the agent said that in their opinion that would not be acceptable.
So another few days waiting till they go into the agent next Monday.0
