  • I need comforting.

As part of the approaching redundancy, I've started looking at potential employment elsewhere - and realised that I look more like the bag of stuff the Charity shop leaves out for the Ragman than a suitable employee.

So I've just ordered two pairs of trousers and a pair of sensible shoes (Loafers - complete with tassels [bork]). A hundred and twenty quid. AND I haven't even got to a blouse/top, socks without holes or a blazer/suit jacket yet. [strike]and there's no guarantee any of them will fit[/strike].

Himself will be co-opted into giving my straggly mop a trim tomorrow, I'll probably have to go out (ugh) and get some hairdye and then get on with filling in applications when I still have absolutely no idea when I'll actually finish work, but the sort of thing I'm qualified/experienced for takes several months to get through the checks.

One of the vacancies is for the exact job Himself walked out of five years ago. It would be awful, but I could stretch it out for a few months until I get fired or walk out. The money's alright, for a start.

Yuk. Yuk. Yuk. Wish I could just not have to worry and spend time cleaning the house whilst he paid the bills and I'd look for something that I actually wanted to do.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

  • Morning all,

Jojo have a huge hug. Do you have any smart villages/towns nearby with charity shops? I buy most of my clothes second hand from the nicer villages nearby xx

Slept dreadfully, DH still away. He spent money on a few beers and pizza out last night, as well as a taxi back to the hotel, we recharge it all to his customer so no real issue, just me fretting because we don't get the money back for 60 days. Plus I was in bed at 9 having a pity party :o

WM pipes frozen (they run outside) so can't do that. DW to set going, then we are off to the library xx

  • JoJo there cant be anything much more stressful than applying for jobs, going for interviews etc., especially when you are under pressure to find something. I am just looking forward to that post when you say you have been accepted for a job that you know you are going to love. Oh and I have a management job and buy most of my work clothes from supermarkets, As@a and TU particularly. Like atb I am a fan of charity shops too.

Wonder how Dizzy is getting on in the snow, think its quite bad in her part of the world. Just a dusting here, glad I dont have to go anywhere.

Hope you have a better day atb, I think I am a bit worried out at the moment - I have mulled things over so much that I have exhausted myself and slept like the dead last night. I need to do DHs monthly bills today, he hardly worked last month so it wont take me long. Just paid a car bill for DS for nearly £200 too.

Bit of flying, some washing to sort, bit of tidying but not too much. A quiet day at home I think.
  • Pickle and I are being thrown out of the house whilst hubby continues the woodworm eradication prep (t minus 2 days) we are having a sleepover at a friend's for 2 nights. Pickle's stuff is packed. About to do mine. Will leave space in the case for hubby to do his.

    Be back later!

Extremely belated birthday wishes for Mr Ionafan, and *healing vibes* for your tumble injuries, Ionafan.

    (((Hugs))) ATB and Jojo.

House looks reasonable. Big projects to finish, one of which I've decided should take two weeks if I nibble at it every day. I will get the accumulated muddle of decades sorted by hook or by crook. At least with Hovel 2 Haven last year, which worked, I could see the results gradually. This is different. I've been hiding these muddles away for so long they really are part of the furniture. I'm finding that the clearer the house is, the more I get through which is helping, but it's taking up so much time I sometimes get a bit disheartened because I'm always dealing with The Past. I need to be able to move on in every sense of the phrase.
    Better is good enough.

Thanks on both counts Honey Bear. Dr checked me thoroughly and - as I expected - has told me to keep taking paracetamol and wait for the cracked rib to heal. I'm still bruised but managed a fair night's sleep, which helps.

This morning I have tidied, cleaned and hoovered our bedroom and done the study floor and the blanket over the mattress on the trundle bed, which Rosie lies up against, so it was very furry. I have started WMx1 of 2, done some printing and decided what cakes to make for after the service that I'm leading tomorrow; now I must finish the rest of my prep for that - although I am sorely tempted to take Rosie out soon while the sun is shining. DH is about to take himself off to the wargames shop by bus, leaving me and Rosie in peace, so I really have no excuse (apart from the :coffee: that I'm drinking) not to get on and finish within the next hour or so.

Wish, you sound very well organised!

(((Hugs))) to Jojo, atb, YL and anyone else in need.

4pm already. Where did that day go? Actually it went shovelling 13” of snow off the drive onto the grass so that the sun had a slightly higher chance of melting some of it. Nothing else today has been achieved. Our dinner out has been cancelled as the temperature is forecast to be -11 tonight and I didn’t fancy an icy drive home even if we could get there. Consequently I have nothing planned for dinner and quite frankly cba.

Hugs to those in need, especially Jojo and ATB. X

Most of the sundeck, the ex-Juliet balcony and the crosspiece has now been treated with boiling water. Just four steps to do, but they're the most important because they're utterly lethal.

Washing brought in and clothes horse set up in the kitchen. Very basic coleslaw made, saving most of the cabbage for tomorrow so we can have bubble and squeak during the week and pizza defrosting nicely. Yum. OH should be home about 9.30 pm and I really, really hope his team is winning. He'll be utterly miserable if they lose again today.

Eight hours spent on very, very boring project, but at least I am now more than half way through so it won't stretch out to a fortnight. Must get this stage done so that I can forget about it. (It's been worrying me.)

Then I think I need to do the tax calc preparations for April to the end of January so there isn't much to do in April.
    Better is good enough.
