OS DAILY SUNDAY 11th NOV

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Amie, sorry to hear it's been a bit of a rough time for you lately...hope things turn the corner for you soon.
Morning everyone else!
I'm only here because I slept far too much yesterday....and did so little that I didn't actually make myself tired. I suppose I could do some housey things now. I suppose....
Pink, gosh I am still trying to get my head around your DS1 being in hospital. I really, really hope it gets sorted out very soon, please send him my best wishes.
There is no news from SnowyOwlsVille, so I'll love you and leave you.
Bye

Morning, Amie and Snowy, and all those to follow. Pink, <hugs> to you and your DS, I hope he's soon on the mend, such a worrying time for you.
Life here has been a bit hectic this week but I had a bit of lovely news, an old and dear friend became a granddad to twin babies on Wednesday, a boy and a girl. Brightened my day anyway.
It's my friend's funeral on Wednesday, I think it will be a huge affair, she touched so many people's hearts and she was so young, only 45. The choir will be singing an anthem for her, which will be hard. But at least we know she's free from pain now.
Today will be a quiet catching up kind of day, I've done the ironing already, yay! and the house is in the kind of state where it can be left for another day :rotfl: or at least I'm not expecting visitors so I can get away with it
Have a great Sunday everyone.

Hello everybody,
Pink Hope DS1 recovers quickly. He's in the best place and he'll get expert attention. Hugs for you & your family. I don't think he takes after Aunty Haribo at all.
DH so kindly gave me his vomiting/diarohhea bug that he had. I succumbed to it on bed time and was getting up hourly until 9am this morning. Today has been laying in bed recovering and napping. I'm off to try a bit of toast now and see how I go.
Hope you all have a lovely day. It's been raining here. ByeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning all.
AMIE - good to hear from you. Hope life gets better for you from now on. If you've got a sore throat, take good care of yourself.
PINK - Many ((((((hugs)))))), so sorry to hear your DS is in hopsital. I haven't read the rest of yesterday's thead - I'll look at it in a minute.
Well, I slept reasonably well last night. I'm waking up early these days but I don't mind if I've had some decent sleep.
My SIL is coming over later for some HM cakes and a cuppa and, maybe a glass of wine in honour of MIL.
We called in to see DS2 and his GF yesterday and their mad kitten - he has just started being allowed out into the garden (supervised) and loves it out there. He hates having to come back in to the house and just sits gazing out through the patio doors, but he's too small to stay out on his own. He's at that stage when his ears are far to big for the rest of him and he looks really comical.
We went to a few charity shops yesterday to get DH a work jacket - he's working outside at the moment painting and needed a warm coat that he didn't mind getting covered in paint. We found a really great one - a bit like a ski-jacket which will be ideal. I found two lovely t-shirts - ideal for the gym, and a wonderful fully stringed puppet - a golden-haired labrador which barks and is so well made the movements make it look real. It's lying on the sofa right now, looking like a real dog. The grandchildren will love it.I was tempted to show it the kitten but I think it's too realistic for that!
I'm going to put the kettle on again then look at the rest of yesterday's thread so, see you all later. Have a great Sunday.

Morning fellow OS insomniacs - ate too late last night and so ended up waking up at 5.10am:eek:
Amie - glad to see you posting and hope things turn better soon. ((hugs))
Pink - (((Big Hugs))) to DS and you and the rest of the family. Hope there is an improvement soon.
tru - Find yourself some class or something you want to go to once a week, even if only 2 hours, and then harden your heart and say - manage without me at that time. Don't do everything for DH, he will soon find out how much you "don't do"!
Hi Snowy - we all need days like that now and again!
Aussie Lass - hope you soon feel better too!
Mrs_F - Congrats on your good news and (((hugs))) re your friend.
moliere - good bargain hunting, its nice to hear things we give to charity shops being useful, and appreciated by others.
Today off to the market for a couple of hours then a quick clean through, and pack ready to set off tomorrow, after night out tonight:rolleyes: . Been eating far too much, and out as well! Weather turned a bit naff. Rained yesterday morning, then brightened up and got to around 18-19 deg. tried drying some towels, but absolutely no wind, so ended up using the TD, which is something I rarely do here. Need to get the sheets done today, so may be a smiliar option BBC say 20 deg and sunny, Yahoo says 20 deg and partly cloudy - let's hope so, will have to wait and see.
Re the hospital visit, the MRI scan revealled a tear in the cartilage behind my knee. Initially he want to try re-hydrating it with some tablets which seem to be Spanish/Canadian popular at the moment (Candrosan 400). Got enough to last until I get back in case they are not yet available back home. He also said that there was some arthritis in the knee between the femur and the knee joint, and there was some wearing out of the "horn of the knee" whatever that means. There is an op for the cartilege but want to try the tablets first as it only last so long. On my foot with the Plantar Fasciitis problem, (same leg) still there afer 4 months and not much interest from docs in the UK, had an injection then, and then another before I leave tomorrow, and I can feel an improvement. Need to take the tablets until we return in the New Year and see him then.
7 am here now, so going to make myself a coffee. Have a good day.
Take care. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning everyone.
Haribo thanks for letting us know about pinks ds, wishing pink and her family all the best ((()))
Im up nice and early as dd got in with us and took over the bed!! Havent even looked outside yet but it sounds very wet and windy, which isnt what i wanted as have 2 footy matches today, one am one pm. If its really bad the weather i may stay at home with DD as she will do nothing but moan if shes cold.
Iv got loads of ironing to do between matches and a roast beef dinner to prepare.
I got the free tescos mag yesterday, loads of great ideas for xmas in, read in it that i could buy and prepare the veg for xmas dinner upto 5 weeks before???? Has anyone done this? Would you then cook them from frozen? Im think for the roasties, pigs in blackets, parsnips, veg, stuffing??
Right off for a browse.
Catch you all later

'Morning All. Am just taking 15minutes inbetween a bout of what Flylady calls "crisis cleaning" - in other words I ddn't do the clean through needed yesteday, and we have guests for lunch, whom I don't know well enough yet to be happy that my normal state of chaos can be seen!
Pink - sorry to hear your DS is in hospital - hope all is well again soon.
Amie, hope things start to feel better for you soon.
Ausielass, poor you! I hate being sick, so hope you keep that toast down now.
Donnygal, sorry to hear about your knee - hope the tablets work fo you.
Moliere - you seem to have some good bargains from your shopping expedition!
Mrs Flittersnoop - I hope the funeral for your friend later in the week will be ok - very hard for everyone, especially as she was so young. Life seems so unfair at times.
Donna - hope the weather clears for the footie - too miserable hanging round a touchline in the wind and wet!
Snowy, it'd be so encouraging to me if I thought you were doing some housework type things too! I need all the encouragement I can get!
Apologies if I've missed anyone.
Hope everyone has a restful and enjoyable Sunday - and big (((HUGS))) to all in need of oneResolution:

Morning everyone.
Pink - I hope DS1 had a good night and will soon be home with you again.
Amie - hope you feel better as the day goes on, too.
Well I feel so energised since we came back from our little break away. DS1 found out that he got the job working with his dad, so will be able to leave his present job that has been depressing him so much. :T
As an added bonus he passed his driving test on Friday (we came back early from our hols so he could take it) so he is grinning from ear to ear at present. Of course I'm sitting with sweating palms each time he goes out, holding my breath till I hear the car draw back up safely. Shall actually miss driving him to and from work each day as it was the time when we most talked about 'stuff'.
DH found out on Friday that he mis-calculated his holiday allowance from work and has an extra week to take before the end of the year so, as he has come home with a roaring cold, he has decided to take a couple more days off next week. Love it when he's home.
Well off to read up on some of the threads. Have a lovely Sunday everyone and :grouphug: to those that are needing it today and hope things get better.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I'm helping my friend with his concert to raise money for Barnardos this afternoon at barnardos church and then I'm going to see the other concert he's put on at the Queens theatre this evening. so hope all goes well for him, but its no thanks to barnardos! who give him no help whatsoever:rolleyes: I think there are more charities that would be more willing but he doesnt want to go elsewhere, so be it!
