My mum loves my GF to bits but has no concept of size my GF is resigned to getting things in size 14 or 16 from my mum who is a size 22 and probably thinks that is tiny. My GF is a size 6/8 and has never really been more than a 10. Mum also loves gilets etc. GF has bad circulation in her hands and arms so will never wear them...

I have issues with breathing, I was in a fire when I was small and I've always panicked if I can't breath clearly, and then on top of that I had a *! of a BF when I was younger that though asphyxiation was cool.

This means I don't wear necklaces, don't wear turtle-necks, and definitely don't wear scarf's that people can tighten around my throat. My birthday's in autumn(late September) and every year for the last four, for Christmas and for my birthday my MIL and grandMIL have got me a scarf and glove set.

That's 4 a year I have to thank them for and 4 times a year my OH explains that I don't have things round my throat cause of the fire when I was younger.

    That's for the last 5 years now...

I've kept some of the gloves.

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

I was once given a carved wooden shoe horn, I was a teenager and it was not something I had ever wanted.

Meant to say it was painted in garish colours and was parrot shaped, just in-case you thought carved wood sounded nice!
