  • A battery operated lady shave. From my ex-boyfriend. Apparently it was because I had once complained I cut my leg shaving - still, I was slightly insulted!
  • A bottle of milk!! Think great gran was getting a little confused at that point!
  • Mine was a definately used, very frumpy petticoat in a size 18 when I was 22 years old and a size 10. It was from my husband's stepmother and she handed it to me saying:
    "It's from Marks & Spencer!!!"
Then she handed me another gift and it was a (very cheap and nasty) mug with a picture of a cow on it.

Always knew she didn't like me!!!

my worst was from my OH, two years after we met. It was a coronation street single by percy sugden and phyllis pearce, and a small box of those disgusting guylian chocolates!!!!!! Needless to say present buying is not one of his better points.
  • Last year my mother did me a christmas stocking (my first one in years) and it was full of tacky cr*p, the ones that weren't were bought so i could give them to my nieces (both under 6 years old, i'm 33). She even told me she went out to specifically buy tat. I have now asked for money as i'm getting a wee bit fed up with receiving stuff that a charity shop would refuse.

She also suggested to my brother and sil that i would love a video of dawn bibby (card maker), the thing is i don't own a telly or video and haven't for a couple of years now.

What really annoys me is that i spend weeks searching for the ideal gift for all my family and yet they just think oh this will do.

  • hehe - mine was one from a housemate - it was a small ceramic box with a bust of tutankamun on the top, from the pound shop with a chip on his face and the back of his head!

Despite it being intended as a serious present it kept me and my OH laughing for the whole of Christmas!

It's the thought that counts although sometimes I wonder what other people are thinking...
