1 part white vinegar/5 parts water [MSE recommended mix] mixed together in recycled spray bottle. Very effective and saves us a fortune on proprietary product.

Just spray on glass after every showering and leave [no need to wipe- soap scum/shampoo marks disappear. Make sure all family do it. I leave filled spray in shower.

Occasionally,I give it a good going over [buff and polish]. Bicarb brings up white base well.

Bit concerned about your scrubbing, hope u don't scratch the glass.

I get this problem too and I assume it's so bad as I'm in a hard water area.

I think I'll get some limescale remover or something on the way back from work and some white vinegar next time I'm food shopping and hopefully this might work (I too have tried Windowlene and all types of different sprays with no real result!)

I had this problem too, so I tried Cillit bang and used a pan non scratch pad thing, it made easy work of removing the watermarks and limescale, after I did that I sprayed polish onto the doors (make sure you do not spray it in the tray, it will be really slippery) and now the water just runs off and a quick wipe with a flannel or the towel I have used to dry myself with to soak up the excess water.

I tried Vinegar, stardrops and even Mr Muscle, nothing worked. I swear by Cillit bang if you like in a hard water area like I do, not very OS, but sometimes modern cleaners make it easier, and it means I can spend longer on MSE:D
  • Astonish Oven & Cookware cleaner - the non abrasive paste that you use on stainless steel. Works on tiles and enamel sanitary ware too.

  • Hi
I have a glass, and metal framed, 4 part shower screen.
The glass is sealed into the frame with what I can only describe as clear sealant.
Each time Iwe have a shower we spray all the screen with Mr Muscle Shower shine.
However, I have today noticed that the sealant has turned red on one of the panels - not all of them.
Have attempted to removed with mould cleaner and neat bleach but to no avail.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thank you for reading.

Cannot advise what to remove it with but would always suggest forget about any leave on sprays because they will leave a residue of liquid which in time will turn mouldy.

I am proud to say my bathroom and shower fitted 2 years ago looks as good as the day it was installed. Why......because each day either myself or my husband if I am at work, wipe the whole thing down with dry cloths leaving no nasty damp anywhere.

It takes 10 mins. but is worth the effort, you need never clean the tiles, shower screen again. They always look perfect.

it sounds a bit like a type of airbourne mould, cant remember the name - neat bleach should work but it might have stained
I bet someone will be around to give some better tips for removing it lol
I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I Know

  • Thank you give me money, we too wipe down as well as spraying. My problem is that it is only on ONE of the 4 panels!
    Most confusing!!

Not sure if i'm posting this on the right forum, but I was wondering if anyone could suggest something to help me get the grime build up off my shower cubicle! I've tried, what feels like everything and nothing works. It's not just in the grouting, it's on the walls of the shower too.
Any advice would be really appreciated...
Sorry if this is in the wrong place...

    Hi sammyjo,

It sounds like it could be limescale. If it is it's easily removed by a good scrub with vinegar.

    These earlier threads may help:

    Cleaning glass shower doors/shower screens

    Shower Screen Spray

How do I keep a shower door sparkling?

    Manky shower screen sealant

    Descaling a shower head?

    cleaning grout

Cleaning grout in shower & cubicle

I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the suggestions together.

Put some cornflour in a bowl of warm water and add a splash of methylated spirits. Wear gloves and rub all over tiles, and shower doors, rinse well with warm water. Another trick I use is to buff the tiles up with a little fabric softener or car wax and buff up with a dry cloth this repels grime and water marks for quite a long time x
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
