    Welcome Picklepot.

Natty - there is a 'what are you making for dinner tonight' thread which has lots of ideas for meals.

Hello everyone. Before the paid stuff today I checked banking and S&Sd downstairs loo. Between shifts, I've walked the dogs, posted a letter, popped to the local shop, had lunch, read the paper and done some puzzles, and S&S'd the bathroom. About to see what I can do in the kitchen in 30 minutes before next shift starts.

Afternoon - definitely not inclined to add the Good, as it’s been a totally rubbish day at work. I’m going to have to try to get in on a day off next week to catch-up the absolute essentials. Who stole January from me, is what I want to know.

Natty - I agree with Jazee - the ‘What are you making for dinner’ thread is really good inspiration. Also the first pages of the monthly Grocery challenge thread has loads of brilliant meal ideas. Guess where I lurk:cool:

This afternoon’a plan of blitzing the LR and DR is looking less and less likely. On the plus side I don’t have to cook tonight as DD has asked DH for a birthday take away. Added bonus - the lasagne that I made yesterday will now be dinner for tomorrow. Win - win.

Hugs to Kaz and Round for a difficult couple of days. X

    2 ceilings painted
    Boog loaded the dw

Getting pinks to bed.. painting the kitchen ceiling and then shredding the carpet in the back room ready for the new floor over the weekend once they are away.

I’m shattered.. I had a bed full of people who have their own beds last night.. Dot was up at 3:30am.. and got Picie up too.. Twinkle was disturbed too so she might be obliging and go to bed early too!

I can’t wait to have this back room looking fine!

  • Hi all

Its been a bit of a week - not feeling too great because Thyroid levels are all wrong again so my medication is now increased. Feeling tired, anxious and generally bleugh is not good at the minute.

However, the house is not too terrible, partly because DH is home, which means he is not earning anything ...

    Early night needed I think.

Been eating too much, if anything, going by the scales at the hospital a couple of weeks ago. But definitely not enough veggies - which is changing as I've mentioned to Himself that I can feel I've put on weight, so he's been pretty good with making massive salads and veggies with every meal. The stress of waiting to find out what's happening with work has been getting to me as well, along with poor quality sleep, so I'm not surprised I've been laid a bit low.

Back to work in the morning - have to get through the day and then there is a big, important meeting [strike]where they will presumably give out the formal bad news[/strike]. I doubt we'll be expected to stay afterwards, which would mean a slightly earlier finish. And then it's the weekend :)

Himself not only listened and followed my suggestion of moving a bookcase downstairs (at midnight last night?), but brought all the books down this afternoon, so I spent a while putting them back in and reorganising a couple of light bits. I'm being to think that the living room area (everything's open plan downstairs) will be nicer if we use the dark/midnight blue feature wall paint around the window and behind the settee. The bookcases are white, the settee [strike]is[/strike] was ivory, the banisters are white, the TV sits on a glass stand, the window is massive and the hall wall will still be pale dusky blue grey, so it's not as if it'll be like wandering around in the dark, especially as I have a bit of a thing for nice light fittings and artwork.

Himself is unconvinced at present, but says he'll do it. Will have to do a bit of financial juggling to get enough cash spare to order stupid expensive paint in the exact colour/finish I want rather than the leftover cheap stuff I used for the feature wall. And vast amounts of painting tape/good brushes due to the amount of edges and 'things' embedded into the walls by the builders, but I think it'll look really cosy and calm. Which we need. And it won't hurt him to have something to do rather than be tempted to spend all day in bed whilst I'm at work.

Hmm, plans are afoot. Much better than worrying about stuff I can't change.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Sorry to hear so many of you are having a hard time. Hugs to you all.

Due to bad weather I have been out of the house from early until late for the last 3 days. Snow and ice so I decided it was easier and safer to get OH to drop me off and pick me up (he has 4x4 with winter tyres). Result is no flying done but not been in to make a mess either. Have managed to put DW on each evening and OH empties it every morning, bed folded back every morning and dirty clothes picked up off floor and put in linen basket so place has stayed tidy.

Exceptionally I am working this morning, my friend is sick so I'm off to the creche for 3 short groups! I have my lion puppet at the ready to greet them all and nip their toes if they won't say hello to me!

    WM is on

Off to holiday house for weekend and DD2 is meeting us there so looking forward to that as not seen her for 3 weeks (she studies 800 km away from us here but nearer the other house)

Time to tidy round kitchen, plump up cushions then sit with another coffee and re read lesson plan and check bag of accessories for this morning.
