    Local to me, too.

It's a house of two halves with the art deco front room and the ultra modern kitchen. I think it looks very nice.

The deal breaker for me would be the (lack of) proximity to a station and the north facing garden but it's decorated to the local taste and I expect it will sell very quickly.

We'll be selling ours in a few months so I hope the market stays bouyant.

Thanks.... there are lots of stations nearby, although, as you say, none within walking distance. Rockford and Chalkwell are a 10 min cycle ride....lol

It’s so difficult with trying to cater to all tastes.... we have kept the walls mainly to plaster (whole bungalow was replastered) so it will be fairly easy for someone to redecorate. And if it was a dealbreaker, I would even pay for the lounge to have new light fixtures and the fireplace removed if they wanted the more ‘modern’ look. Personally we like the semi Art Deco appearance, but my son hated it!

    Good luck with your listing

  • We have just started looking at houses after being in this one for 33 years! Yesterday, we saw a lovely house but which was way overpriced as it needed refurbing throughout but the bones of it were good. However, it was way overpriced.

We are not bungalow people, not sure why as my OH grew up in one!

My comments on yours would be that I love it, but I really don't like the orange in the kitchen, and although I love all the glass doors, privacy when eating breakfast would mean it didn't appeal. Hidden blinds in the glass would have worked for me though. Also, I would have wanted another reception room. It is a fantastic extension though.
  • Had one person view so far, and he is coming back with his partner tomorrow.

Good point above about the blinds in the glass, but would have cost another £2000, and they are not that reliable, so we were told by a friend ‘in the trade’.

To be honest, if someone wants to watch a couple of 58 yo’s eating breakfast then they must have pretty boring lives! There is only one window, in one bungalow, that can actually see in. If we were more overlooked it would have been a concern.

    Good luck with your search....

How'd the feedback go martin? Just curious how active the market is in that neck of the woods with all the Brexit palava

You've done an amazing job, my main concern would be overdevelopment of a bungalow, and with very small garden. I made the same mistake - spent a lot of money developing a bungalow, and when I found a buyer they'd have been happy with it as it was before (older couple, I'd gone modern like you, open plan). I'd have made the same or similar without developing.

But as you said, it was supposed to be a long term home and not done for resale. And I don't know what the demand is for modern bungalows in your area, but you can't deny that is a quality job and I love the light tunnel ideas, I wish I'd though of that!

They never turned up, which really pi***d me off. The EA rang on Monday, and they had unexpected guests turn up. We have told EA not to rebook them as they reek trouble.

Not had any other viewings booked. However, EA had a call from someone in Cornwall who has seen it on Right Move and has sold his property, and wanted to make an offer on it without seeing it :rotfl:

Needless to say we declined the offer, and invited him to come up and view in person......

Anyone ever sold without purchaser viewing in person?

I've had that a few times, usually a really low offer from chancers to see if they can get a steal. Could be genuine if long distance and they have a max budget - no point in travelling if you can't afford it.

Only the wife viewed my last house, the husband was happy for her to decide and wasn't going to visit. I actually insisted. Wasn't about to be let down two months into the sale or anything! You really can't judge from RM/street view. I've thought I would buy many houses over the years before actually seeing them!

Would say exactly the same as you.

Maybe the house price drops stories on the news spooked them? The media pumped things up when the bubble was growing, seems they are taking a hand in deflating it also?
