Not as clear cut as that. Depending on the runs I do and the traffic I can end up running out of time 10 minutes from the yard and having to night out. If I do that run 5 days a week I'm legitimately parking up in the same location every night. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. If so someone is not planning very well.0 -

It has nothing to do with planning and if you were a truck driver you'd know that not every run is possible to do in a single day's driving. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

You mean you don't think it is sensible that if a driver finds he is running out of tacho time 5 days in a row, they shouldn't take some kind of action like changing their break patterns? Part of OL procedure is that there should be a place where the lorry is normally kept. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that they have somewhere to keep it. My father in law had kept his at the depot and drove to and from the depot in a car. The Inspectorate were very clear with him that he needed somewhere off teh road to keep the lorry.
OP if it happens regularly, report it to your local Department of Transport office that is responsible for CPC. One or two occasions over a number of weeks won't count, I fear.0 -

How would changing break patterns get the driver home? he has the same amount of driving time. He only needs somewhere to park when not working such as weekends during his working week he can park anywhere, how would he get home every night if he's going to say Spain?0 -

If traffic is causing him to miss the yard by 10 minutes, presumably it's better to take a break earlier and miss some of the traffic, get to the yard and then sleep at home or at least not on the roadside?
If he genuinely can only get to within 10 minutes of the yard on a return trip 5 days a week, then there's something suspect because if he's getting back to the same place he could have got back to the yard if he started there.0 -

I think even you know you’re not going to drive to Spain and back in a day at 56 mph.0 -

I do but the poster who thinks everyone can park in the main yard and drive home every day doesn't.0 -
