Jo Johnson steps down, torn between family loyalty and the national interest. Oh dear Boris.
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

It will be interesting to see what happens in Orpington as it’s a large Tory majority. I don’t see that being overturned.

Most amusing bit is now Labour's dilemma. They are running away from GE because they know public has caught them out sitting on fence.

They want to project themselves as remain party but can't say it out loud for fear of losing leave votes :D

Let the GE be fight between Leave and Remain. This is 2nd ref that remainers wanted.

    You have the dilemma wrong.

They are caught between the GE now that Corbyn really really wants and being very very patient and waiting until November. The advantage of waiting is

    1) Boris will have to go to the EU in October and get an extension (humiliating) or resign

    2) Having missed the Oct 31st deadline brexiters will be p****d and will vote BP splitting the Leave vote....better result for all Remain voters.

I cannot see a downside to a November election for the opposition?
What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

P***ed off, surely? Mind you, many of the Brexiters are getting on. :rotfl:

In your fervour to avoid Brexit you're disregarding the possibility of an October 15th election and that's a mistake because it is still possible, there are ways including a Tory MP asking for a vote of no confidence. ;) Wait and see after Monday when Boris tries again.

I would agree that anything can happen, it if the tories calla vote of no confidence that might allow the opposition parties to form a government (Ken Clarke and Harriet Hartman together are being mentioned on the bbc)

There are no guarantees of what Boris could try but his shenanigans could backfire.

He could ask another country to veto the extension, but so far it’s all backfired for him.

But we can agree anything can happen as he cannot be trusted.

Keir Starmer said May could be trusted even if they disagreed.

That's interesting considering the lies during her tenure as PM - and there were many, starting with "Brexit means Brexit" which apparently to her meant immediate capitulation since she allowed the EU to set the agenda without so much as a "but..." .

She didnt try proroguing, running down the clock or filibustering to prevent the will of parliament or say she would not follow the legal bills.

I think it's quite a widespread opinion that Boris cannot be trusted.
