Meh I never said that. What I have said is that I prefer to eat the chlorinated chicken as long as it is authorised by the developed countries food standard rather than to eat horse meat which is packed as beef like the one you get from Romania.
At least with chlorinated chicken I have been made aware of it in advance.0 -
So the system failed. How many failures of compliance was the system expected to prevent, >90%, >98%?
Laws mostly deter those who don't want to get caught. Once people are past that stage things can go on for a while.
The system found this one though, we don't know what they haven't found.
But that is similar to all crimes. At least with chlorinated chicken I have been made aware of it in advance.
The US also add arsenic to make it a nicer color. Still happy?Really!
See here
Chlorine doesn't affect salmonella.

Chlorine covers up the sins of the US farmers, allowing them to use lower welfare standards which mean that as soon as the chlorine stops working then you'll be hit by a massive problem.
My point is that if you washed UK chicken with chlorine then it wouldn't be any worse for you than it already is. Some people have skin sensitive to chlorine, so it may cause them problems. But if I have time, I prefer to become a chef, cooking meal that I enjoy myself rather than buying lasagne packed as a beef lasagne but contained horse meat. This is due to the EU food standard ehh.....
You mean the EU food standard which forced governments to introduce laws on food labelling and testing which resulted in the house meat being discovered and the lasagna and then recalled? Those EU food standards, which you now want to get rid of?
In america they are don't have very good food testing because the manufacturers sue them for defamation if any tests show up anything.0 -

What does your preference have to do with it? You'd prefer to eat one thing which is illegal over another which is illegal.
I'd prefer to be burgled than murdered - who cares?0 -

And that's probably the crux of the matter.
Some are optimistic about brexit, others still feel the sky is going to fall in if we dare to step out from under the comfort blanket.0 -

My view is that food standards will fall after brexit. There's the political imperative to get a deal (any deal) with the USA and food standards are going to fall down the priority list as other problems leapfrog them.
I doubt the sky will fall in though.0 -

I am aware of that but the majority expect that washing in Cl will make everything OK. If you read the actions to eradicate salmonella there is much more to it than washing in bleach. In america they are don't have very good food testing because the manufacturers sue them for defamation if any tests show up anything.
Can you substantiate that?
Either way the supposed excellent standards of the EU and the known poor standards of the US are both areas that present significant health risk and should therefore become a focal point for the FSA.0 -

Many on here would have you believe otherwise.0 -

I do not mind the food standard going down as long as it is authorised by a well developed countries standard authority as safe to eat. You do get this all the time as part of technological advancement.
In the past all vegetables, meats are organic grown in the arable land. However, with the invention of pesticide, gene technology, glass house, etc it is now widely acceptable to eat non organic food. Nowadays many of the vegetables are grown in the glass house with a lot of chemical to accelerate the growing process. It is less healthy than the organic one but it is still safe to eat. Accepting this sort of thing is the key to lower the cost and to feed the world.
Anyway did you still eat non organic food ? If the answer is yes why considering it is a lower standard, less healthy than organic food ??Sailtheworld wrote: »I doubt the sky will fall in though.
Well is it not better if the sky will fall immediately the day after UK is leaving the EU on October 31, 2019. At least this will help our remoaners friends to prove what they have been scaremongering.
Also all of the continents and the world EU,British isles disappear so no more bickering of Brexit.. But mind you Sailtheworld, You will no longer be able to sail the world.

The people in the US do eat chlorinated chicken, yet the people there is still healthy and intelligent.
You ever think WHY the US have to chlorinate their chicken?
It's because it's riddled with bacteria due to poor husbandry conditions, UK farmers will have to drop their standards - even that might not be enough to fight off US Farmers who've got far lower overheads, for example farmland in the US is about a fifth of the price of what it is in the UK0 -

Well why sensible people would need to spend time to think too many thing where there is an authority could provide an expert opinion. Let alone to believe the preach from a remoaner. The same thing when they preach about the sky will fall. Well I do expect that to really happen so no more remoaning.
Chlorinated chicken from the US in the UK market ? I will eat it. I prefer to eat the food like that as I have been made aware of it in advance rather than to eat horse meat which was packed as beef like the one you get from Romania. The people in the US do eat chlorinated chicken, yet the people there are still healthy and bright.
Keep in mind US win the most medals in the Olympic games (healthy), as well as intelligent considering a lot of inventions, nobel prize winner who did eat chlorinated chicken.
For arch remoaners, UK politicians who have traveled to new York and eat fried chicken from one of the fast food such as Kennedy Fried Chicken, Popeye fried chicken, blue ribbon they might have eaten chlorinated chicken. But what is amazing is that they still alive to this date telling all of scare mongering nonsense about chlorinated chicken. They should have died of illness for the thing they themselves have preached.0
