Will there be anything else on the shelves after Brexit, or will it just be the four tins of peas?

We are laughing, but Crashy is so far the only Brexiter who has suggested any kind of post Brexit policy. We should respect that.

Lots of us don’t respect crashy who is a crash troll, wishing adverse circumstances on many others because of his own failure in life.

If we do get a no deal then those who voted for it will be disappointed with the cost and availability of produce that’s for sure.

It is truly heartbreaking the mess this country is now in. Has Boris suddenly found the money tree. If Labour had been spending all this dosh the usual suspects would have been apoplectic!

We are being bombarded by emails asking for volunteers to go on the call centres.

    https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2019/aug/03/secret-education-report-no-deal-brexit-school-chaos

In a section entitled School Food, it talks of the “risk that communications in this area could spark undue alarm or panic food buying among the general public”.

And it adds: “Warehousing and stockpiling capacity will be more limited in the pre-Xmas period. The department has limited levers to address these risks. We are heavily dependent on the actions of major suppliers and other government departments to ensure continued provision.”

Frankly I know stockpiling is wrong. However if you are the only one who does not have a stock of Toilet Paper/Bleach/pet food/water/candles/liquid cash etc etc etc more FOOL you.

If you have the spare money then stockpile.
Anyone who thinks the Government can manage a crisis when they can not manage “normal” care and education of their citizens, well good luck with that.
There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.

The only thing these Remain voting miserablists have left is the economic ‘armageddon’ of no deal. Nothing electorally in three years has yet managed to trump the democratic imperative to leave the EU as expressed in June 2016. Their middle class metropolitan heroes inside and outside of parliament look beaten and crestfallen. Despite my previous reservations, I think we may well leave the EU in around 90 day time.
I win, we win, democracy wins, the UK wins!

Remain voting miserablists, brilliant phrase well done.

    How about
    Brexiter voting miserabilists

Actually I suspect non of us are miserable, sad may be but miserable, no.

We should all be know as planners

Brexiters planning for the sunny uplands and stockpiling

Remainers planning for difficult time but also stockpiling.

    Idiots not planning, not stockpiling,

I have worked in the food industry all my life.Christmas is a logistical nightmare.Into January, shortages invariably occur at least three weeks in.You cannot comprehend the sheer volume of food purchased in December! It is ehen people decide they CAN cook, but they need two month's worth- for a couple of days!

Chuck in Brexit ,and we have a perfect storm.Trust me,that grub don't appear by magic! People panic at Christmas, give them a proper reason, and watch the fun...

    Thanks for the insight.
any tips on the items we might be surprised that disappear from the shelves early.
Or perhaps what items will disappear for longest if it all goes to hell.

Simple solution is 4 tins max peas per customer per visit, government could enforce that overnight if people get silly. (In reality the PTB want panic buying because it will give retail figures a much needed boost. Wonder how the people who went "Panic Buying" last time we were supposed to leave feel about it though?)

I suspect that those who could afford to stock up have now learned what items were worth stocking. There is nothing to lose (if you can afford it) to have three months of toilet paper but perhaps forgetting the pet food last time you will not forget this time.

No one I know on both sides of the argument is stockpiling, its just another miserablist remain narrative designed to paint the picture that the UK is on the cusp of some sort of a cataclysmic event.
I know it will be disappointing for you when Brexit turns out to be the rather boring benign event it was always going to be, but I hope you and others will have the good grace to come on here and front up. Everyone should have it within themselves to admit when they get things wrong.

I don't know any personally butvthere are large groups dedicated to stockpiling. It's worth doing anyway since supermarkets don't really hold more than a few days food like you see every Christmas and when it snows.

It's always good money saving to buy stuff when it's on offer too.

Can anyone in the 'stockpiling lobby group' explain why there will be a shortage of any imported item? The govt will instantly react to any delays with a temporary open sesame to all such goods. If needed an instant emergency measure could say 'VAT to rise to 25% and all import duties to cease henceforth' while the system is fixed.

The real and only limit on buying what we need from abroad is how much cash UK PLC has in the piggy bank. With much of Southern EU already technically bankrupt, we've nothing to fear there by comparison.
