Brexit the economy and house prices part 7: Brexit Harder

Nope, I think he's got a pretty good idea of what makes a fascist. He seems spot on and the historical similarities are striking. A lot of the propaganda and wording is alarmingly similar.
The far right is nowhere in UK politics as far as I can see. If it is, I'd be interested to know who the average fascist should vote for.
In Germany and France the choice is obvious, the AfD has 93 fascists in the Bundestag and Le Pen's Front Nationale came second in the last Presidential election. As said, the Nazi party didn't turn up goose stepping and killing outsiders. They started as a party of the oppressed people in a depression, where everything was blamed on the "others", and slowly morphed into the monstrosity that's tragically not been condemned to history.
Again, what party should a British fascist vote for? Geniunely curious.Gina Miller is absolutely hated by the right wing, because some people see any attempts to give Parliament a say as a direct attack on Brexit and therefor democracy. The judges that agreed with her on A50 had their faces on the front page of the right wing rags with headlines like "TRAITORS" and "ENEMIES OF THE PEOPLE!"
The issue with Gina Miller was the view that a member of the wealthy middle class metropolitan elite was using hers and others money to impede the progress of democratic vote she didn't agree with, I see nothing to suggest that view on her motivations wasn't spot on. As regards the right wing press, if their reactionary rhetoric was being mirrored by politicians then I would worried, I recall the then Justice Secretary, Liz Truss having to deal with a lot of kickback from politicians on all sides who were annoyed at the criticism the judiciary had recieved. I see no signs whatsoever that in the three years since the Brexit vote of our legal system being compromised by fascists as you claim, unlike the situation in those staunch EU nations like Hungary or Poland it has to be said. You have people like Farage talking about picking up a rifle and heading to the front lines to fight for Brexit days after Jo Cox was murdered for opposing Brexit. You have people like Mogg and Johnson threatening to prorogue Parliament so that we time out on the A50 extensions, and it being praised by the people who want to leave to uphold democracy. You have the government (I can't remember the department) wanting to force companies to publish lists of the foreigners they hired.
None of that behaviour is what most sensible people would call fascist behaviour. If proroguing parliament is fascist, then your mate John Major is a fascist.Reports of racist and xenophobic attacks escalated drastically after the vote as racists were empowered. The anger the neglected public was harboring has been redirected to those "others", in this case foreigners and the EU rather than the government causing the problems.
In the latest survey of European attitudes to immigration, the UK scored second in table of nations holding positive views. If there was a spike in sort of negative behaviour you describe then it was pretty shortlived. What are your views on all those other countries in Europe with more negative views on foreigners than the UK, are they on cusp of fascism like we are?Anyone who is familiar with history can see a lot of similarities and can make a reasonable guess as to where things are heading
Can't agree, it just suits your rather hackneyed and erroneous narrative on Brexit to portray it as being an exercise in right wing thinking.I'm also amused that you somehow equate fascism (usually right wing) to Labour (clearly left wing). Can you cite any kind of link between the 2?
I refer you to the upcoming EHRC investigation into anti-semitism in the British Labour Party. Is that who you mean by fascists BTW?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

In an ideal world, so would I, however our world is still far from that unfortunately, and the idea of no border checks allowing free travel to criminals and terrorists feels threatening. Rather like crime statistics - you may be very unlikely to suffer from an act of violence, but the fact that these acts happen in the current system makes many people worry about reducing checks.
Gina Miller's original court case may be yet another example of the unintended consequence. I believe there would not have been a leaving deadline date put into legislation without it, meaning there would probably not have been the succession of "cliff edges" we have had, and may well continue to have for some time.
I thought the deadline date was triggered by Article 50?'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -

The reason you can’t remember it is because it didn’t happen. Why do you keep making things up?The fascists of the future will call themselves anti-fascists.0 -

He's not making it up, and you should stop being revisionist - it did happen:

but there was a pretty sharp U-turn (even by the standards of the government):

Have another go.
Any comment at all on the entirely more visable fascism we can see on mainland Europe?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

Yes, that's the party. The fact that some people struggle to see the nose on their faces doesn't change what the brexit party are about.
Try and remember you probably made exactly the same arguments about UKIP and played down their racist tendencies in the same way too - right until the point they employed Tommy Robinson as their diversity advisor or whatever.
You've been fooled once by UKIP. Get fooled by the Brexit Party and that's on you.Any comment at all on the entirely more visible fascism we can see on mainland Europe?
Facism is deplorable. What's the point you're trying to make? Our racists are 'nicer' than those foreign ones? That's what it looks like.0 -

Sorry, it was Amber Rudd from the Home Office.
