But it wouldn't automatically get us zero tariffs from anyone - there's no built in reciprocity.
We'd need to arrange a FTA to get tariff free/checking trade in both directions, but being that everyone else has tariff free trade for goods going to us, what's the incentive for them to open up their markets to us?
I dont have a problem with raising money from tariffs, better than increasing income tax.
But some do argue that it means cheaper goods for consumers. To me, there are too many products shipped from the other side of the world, tax free.
Ask the big retailers how they can compete with goods coming into the country and paying zero tax.
China export around £50 billion worth of goods to the UK, whilst we export around £10 billion to them.0 -
Its almost unheard of for either the Japanese government or Japanese Business to express opinions on other nations' politics.
The fact both have complained about Brexit now shows how worried the Japanese are and should make Brexiter's blood run cold.
Japan has sunk hundreds of millions of British pounds into investing in Britain, a global facing country that was part of the EU.
What do they think and what are they planning now Britain's foreign policy is being decided by a fractured weak government whose main aim is to pander to poorly educated gammons?0 -

So Japan is still investing millions in the UK.
It looks like somebody is trying really, really hard to say "Brexit is bad!" when the reality is that just like always the news doesn't go all one way, they is a mix of good and bad.
Just like HMV, which went "bang" and would close with 2.200 jobs gone.
But now 27 shops will close & 455 jobs will go - because a Canadian company has bought it!
Canadian, so it looks like they aren't too concerned by your Brexit worries either.0 -

Brexit. Watch British companies being sold off on the cheap to foreigners.
Is that part of taking back control as well?0 -
