You could be right....so how do you think that'll work out for our public services?
A BJ Premiership would mean a continuance of the Tory dogma that has blighted our public services for decades.
I was heartened to see Jezza wear my Union badge at a recent PMQ`s it has to be said, if only he would show some real political courage and give vent to his undoubted Eurosceptic beliefs a bit more.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -

What actually needs to happen is for the tories to stop navel gazing and elect a new leader.
The difference s that lots of things have been ruled out but not in.
I see little point in the motion - debate -vote, motion - debate -vote process that was indicative voting. They need to agree a comprehensive set of options and then use STV to seewhat the consensus is.
If 3 has already been rejected then it will be bottom of the poll and eliminated first. If you do not understand how STV works I can see why you have commented as you have done.
A new leader will not change the arithmetic.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
I think you're the third person to flag up the Churchill quote in my signature. You can't accuse me of misquoting the fella and then concede in the same paragraph that he actually said it. I'm not sure I've ever said it was a quote made in relation to the EU, especially as the EU only came in being decades after Churchill passed away.
Its the sentiment incumbent in the quote that resonates with me.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
The acrimony from some on this thread is amusing.
We are totally doomed with a no deal exit.. even BJ knows this now.
What’s all the fighting about?
Parliament has rejected NO DEAL and the WA.
Will be a brave PM who will just take us out of EU. I doubt it will happen now.. A totally unscripted future.0 -
The real problem is that all of the options have been ruled out. So where to go now? It needs a new mandate a government with enough of a majority to do something - that means a referendum or a general election. Both are too much democracy for the leavers, though
You’re correct to say that there is no way forward for this parliament. They are not going to agree on firstly having a second referendum and secondly on the process.
The dup and possibly some tories will bring the govt down before that happens.
Only a general election redraws the numbers based on new manifestos and forces clear positions.0 -

I understand perfectly how STV works thanks for patronising me. Nobody is going to agree to STV on options that are pointless.
A new leader changes the dynamic of the tories because they are forced to have a strategy and forced to get that through the membership.
So the arithmetic does change because the strategy has to change. And if they still fail then there is no option but to have a GE.
You can all forget about a second referendum because May has no authority to deliver one and the Tory membership will never vote for a leader who wants one.0 -

He's always said he's 6/10 on Europe.
He's being 6/10 on Europe.
Corbyn doesn't pretend to think things he doesn't think, never has, never will. If you want a Labour leader who will say things he doesn't believe in order to make people he doesn't care about vote for him, then you'll need to find a Blairite.0 -
Among the cases identified are a Spanish firefighter who faces up to 30 years in prison for rescuing migrants from drowning at sea in Greece, a French olive grower arrested for feeding and sheltering migrants on the border of Italy and a 70-year-old Danish grandmother who was convicted and fined for offering a lift to a family with small children.

Thank goodness that all over Europe people are defying the evolutionary dead end of the Right. The meanness, the spite, and the small minded parochialism that led to Brexit.
We can only hope this enlightenment will spread to England.0 -

Ah, the cognitive dissonance of the acolyte.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
