Brexit the economy and house prices part 7: Brexit Harder

The scenarios so far have been way wide of the mark though; none of the "emergency budget" etc. that we were warned of came to pass.
For political reasons they let go of the reins. So we had austerity causing the conditions that led to brexit and now they're sweeping it all under the carpet.
But as long as the tories keep their party together so they can keep subjugating the workers.0 -
It's no surprise she stepped in, Gary McKinnon is white british.
If he'd been a brown immigrant then he wouldn't be vulnerable, he'd be dangerous.
So this didn't happen then?

Immigration requests are not judged on the colour of someone's skin, but you already know that, you will not be happy until you convert this country to a communist state, in which case there would be no point in extraditing anyone because they would simply be thrown in jail here, and the conditions in jail today would be looked upon with envy. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

The extradition agreement with America is very different because it's one way only and all the Americans have to do is say they think the target has committed a crime which breaks US laws.
To be fair it was signed by Robin Cook but it needs to go.
I'm not sure what Communism has to do with anything.0 -

They want to make brexit appear to be a success, so austerity is being modified to achieve that. Even though brexit will cost us a lot of money. By the time people figure that out it will be too late.0 -

Gosh the Brexiters have gone very quiet. You could hear a pin drop!
Next stop Euro elections, a smashing defeat for the Tories, and a pro Remain ticket for 80% of MEPs. And after that, the polls are looking very good for Prime Minister in waiting, Jeremy Corbyn, and very, very bad for a Tory Party who now appeals to almost none of the under 45s.
Maybe Brexit will turn out better than we thought.

Jeremy Corbyn is on course to be prime minister as Conservative support plummets, according to an analysis of recent polling.
Labour could capitalise on the Brexit delay to sweep into power, with the Tories set to lose 59 seats in the event of a general election, according to Electoral Calculus research for The Sunday Telegraph.

It's interesting rhetoric, probably unhelpful.
Mr Duncan Smith called on Ms May to stand down as soon as next month, describing the party's failure to leave the EU on time "a disaster".
The brexiteers are trying to make everyone think it's a disaster because they want to use public opinion as a way to force the issue. I would expect politicians to take a more pragmatic view on the process and use less divisive words.
AFAIK extending article 50 hasn't caused anyone to die or be seriously injured, things are just going to stay exactly as they were for a little while longer and only bigoted people will really notice a difference.
While Theresa May has been criticised for putting party before country, IDS appears to be putting brexit ahead of both the country and the party. He may get his wish and damage both the country and the part.0 -
The longer Brexit doesn't happen and the longer there are no protests the less likely it is that it will happen at all.
The next real acid test will be the European elections. Another muddled low turnout fudge will prove nothing, but I don't think that will happen. I expect these to be the highest turnout on record for MEPs by quite some way in the UK, and high for an election in general.
What is going to be a challenge for all parties, but most of all Labour, is setting their stall out for where they stand. Corbyn has been quite adept at walking the line between his huge Remain membership, his Leave constituences, and his "Whatever benefits my corporate backers" Blairite MPs.
No one cares about the PLP, they can't be anymore antagonistic towards the idea of their own party getting into power, but one or other of the other groups is going to have to be let down.0
