And they omit to mention that on the ballot paper there were only 2 simple options. It's a bit late now to start complaining about that.0

It seems to be only remainers that say that.
That's because the few brexiteers are left change their tune to whatever the current leave is and deny blind that they wanted anything else. Or are adamant that everyone wants exactly the same brexit they currently do.
Beyond some fringe right wingers, no-one was talking about a WTO brexit 3 years ago.0 -

But at the time it was quite evident that there was a "disagreement" between the leaders of the Leave campaigns as to what Brexit meant.
For example Gove said "“There is a free trade zone stretching from Iceland to Turkey that all European nations have access to, regardless of whether they are in or out of the euro or EU. After we vote to leave we will remain in this zone."
Also Bo Johnson was once in favour of the single market

The umbella organisations representing leave said contradictory things during the campaign.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
Who know what kind of deal we might get or could have got, Parliament can't even agree the WA. If parliament hadn't strived to weaken May's position or put someone more committed to leave in charge of negotiations we might have got somewhere.
The original plan was to negotiate a WA and then agree the future relationship. It was argued that 2 years should be enough to do this.We would then leave and transition to that future arrangement over a defined period. This was a sensible approach
What happened is that we spent two years addressing the WA and even that was flawed due to the backstop issues. But the real problem was we never even started agreeing the future relationship.
Whatever the reasons for the delays the problem many have in endorsing the WA is that we do not know what the end state will be.Logic would suggest that we extend A50 for a year or more to enable that to be agreed before we leave.
Parliament clearly does like the idea of approving the WA since it means trusting a minority Government to work up a future relationship when it has a track record of putting party before country. The EU has not helped by insisting the WA agreement is agreed before the future arrangement is discussed.
Apart from the concerns about the Backstop, which I agree are significant to the ERG fanatics, the WA is not really a big issue provided we know where this is heading. I for one would not trust 150,000 Tory members (probably infiltrated by returning UKIPers) to elect a credible PM that was not in the ERG.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Mays problems are purely May inflicted; reliance on the DUP, contradictory red lines, no actual plan. She still doesn't seem to have a plan beyond delay some more.
We were told we'd have the easiest deal in history, that nothing would change except for all the money we save.
Remainers told you 3 years ago none of this would happen and we're told it was certain and remainers we're just spouting project fear. It was all over when Cameron resigned, we just didn't appreciate how badly it could be messed up from there.0 -

I agree with you regarding the back stop and the fact that and the EU insisting WA is agree before futures arrangements. I think how you feel about back stop is down to trust if like the ERG you do not trust EU you can see why they think it's a trap if like me I don't think EU are trying to trap us and its the interest of both sides to come to a deal it's notsuch a big problem.0 -

It should have been a lot easier than it is, remember this is not the deal and a very large part of that is down to Tories and May but having a Parliament continuously undermining her position hasn't helped.
Her position is ridiculous. To call a Brexit election and barely scrape through with a minority government. To spend 2 years parroting hard Brexit slogans as "the will of the people" with no shred of evidence that was what people wanted and refusing to find out.
Then coming up with a plan no one wanted at the last minute hoping that no one would notice the Northern Ireland backstop would be a problem, least of all the 10 religious fundamentalists she'd bribed to vote for her, from Northern Ireland.
Brexit is a stupid arrogant Tory mess, but that stupid arrogant Tory woman is wholly responsible for this phase of it.
General election. Get them out!!0 -

The election was her biggest mistake and the Tories was making her leader.0
