So Rees Mogg is now ready to vote for May's deal. (if he gets a chance)

A deal that he described previously as the worst of all worlds, a state of vassalage, worse than remaining in the EU.

    Unbelievable.

it's only unbelievable if you ever took any of them seriously in their diatribes and false promises ;)

No twisting here. The comment was simply to point out that any other transaction conducted in this way would have been thrown out under contract law.

You would have to prove that leaving the EU without a deal wasn't leaving the EU. Would you fancy your chances?

It would be easier to prove that staying but relinquishing some aspects of the current agreement wasn't leaving the EU. That is the reality of where we currently may end!

    Very philosophical.

You'd no doubt think the same if your travel agent promised you a month in Barbados & you actually got a weekend in Cleethorpes.

A promise is merely that, no contract has been entered into.

What did you actually ask for, and ensure you were getting before you signed your contract?

People often buy late bargain holidays and get very good deals, others are less lucky but if you do not discriminate and are not specific then you get what you get.

DUP aren't going to budge it seems. Meaning RM won't either. Words alone have no value. Unless there's a broader move towards a consensus. Seems as Labour MP's are too afraid to express their own opinions.

How is it fake? After 2021 (assuming it's brought in) there will be no more unnecessarily messing with our sleep patterns twice a year.
Even the headline says they're stopping it!

Each to their own. I think it's long overdue, and one of the best things I've heard for a while.

Do you remember how it worked back in 1968 - 72 i think, or are you too young ?

No, before my time. A quick check on Wikipedia has enlightened me though.
That would be okay with me. I wouldn't mind staying on GMT or GMT+1. It's dark when I go to work in the mornings and when I come home in the afternoon during winter. It's light when I get up & when I go to bed in the summer. I really couldn't care less what time zone we're in, but I'd just prefer it to be a static one.
Maybe if Brexit does finally happen, and the Scots have another go at the Indy ref, they'll be able to choose their own time setting, independent of rUK. Could be fun on the Irish border too.

Another reason for the government to plough on with Brexit. The sooner they get it done, the less chance of being tied to the EU's rules on ending DST, and they can just leave it as it is.
Anyway, don't we need to wait & see if it's approved by the EU council first?

    Hypocrisy at its worst
Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.

Oh come on. You never thought he actually had a principle, or any conviction other than just re-lining his already generously lined pockets?

I wonder what's happened to make the Tory Brexiteers back down from Brexit. It won't be what's best for Britain, because they don't care about Britain. Which means they've discovered something that affects themselves specifically or would be the end of their chosen vehicle of personal inherited privilege, the Tory Party, in that order.

Called compromise. Better than being obtuse. Everybody has to give a little.

It's because they think that if they get one of their stooges in power then they can rip up any agreement made because "we hold all the cards".

It will be interesting if they get past bercow, because it's possible that there may be less support for the withdrawal agreement without Theresa May in the next stage, if people are scared of the likes of Bojo or Gove.

If I were the DUP then I certainly wouldn't let my future me dictated by any of the inept MPs that would be supported by the ERG.

Right you signed up for weight watchers and you came round afterwards to find you were a quadraplegic, they delivered what you asked for.

I do wonder how the leavers will react when they realise what they are getting, I'm pretty sure none of the red faced frothing mouth leavers have considered that.

The interesting thing about the march on saturday was that there were people there that had taken part in the poll tax protests, which I am surprised that the two would intersect. Once the remainers and the eye opened leavers get together, we might find some more interesting protests ahead.
