Pigpen I can sympathise. I am staying strong and not sending DS1 money, even though he has had a really rough time of it just lately and hasnt a clue what UC he will get. I cant afford it, simple as that.
Sooo .. long day at work, was at the laptop at 6.15am but the big project I have been working on since November is finished. I am not 100% sure it is perfect but I couldnt have put more effort into it so I am pleased with that. Now I start on the million and one other things that have been pushed to one side.
I rewarded myself with an early finish, quick trip to supermarket, whizz round with hoover and collapsed on sofa with blanket, dog and book.
DS2 and I have made peace for now over his holiday plans with unsuitable friends. I have to let him get on with it of course, he is 18, but I think I got my point across.
So all is well here. No cycling tomorrow, all rides cancelled as the roads are probably icy. I plan to rest.0 -
Massive (((hugs))) for Fun Fair Princess, Yorkshire Lass and Pigpen. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make life easier for all of you.
I've spent the day removing gibble nests from all over the house so it looks clearer. I often leave things in place so that when I get the chance to sort them out everything's in the right place, and today I finally cracked and dealt with all of them so I could walk around without thinking, '... and I'd better do that too ....' It all looks much clearer and better.
The superking duvet cover is actually mended after years of being ripped. No-one will ever notice it's been repaired, but it was very obvious it needed one and I've been using it like that for years in a guest room. Bad me. I'm tired of the place looking scruffy, now that it's pretty much passable from the cleaning point of view. New year, new leaf and all that.
Off to learn how to sew jersey tomorrow, so that I can make myself tops I like, that are affordable and that fit. I was amazed at how cheap the fabric was in comparison to the price of tops I like, so I really, really hope the course goes well. Must deal with my armpits tomorrow morning before I leave here, or every time I whip my top off for a fitting I'll feel self-conscious.Better is good enough.0 -
Not a lot (aka nothing) achieved. But I have just fashioned 2 bottles of wine, a shoe box and a stash of wrapping, tissue and ribbons into a present which looks greater than the sum of its parts for a gathering tomorrow. Result.0

(((Hugs))) to all in need.
I am still trying to get rid of this cold without it turning into sinusitis or bronchitis. My brain has gone to mush and I have very little energy.
Today I
- woke up late on the sofa, having knitted 4 camel legs and a tail at silly o'clock (I did sleep in bed from 11 pm until about 3 am but woke up thirsty because I was breathing through my mouth)
- ate breakfast
- showered and dressed
- checked bank account and some paperwork
- went for a routine blood test (in advance of long term condition review next week)
- while I was waiting for my number to be called, decluttered contacts on my phone that are no longer needed (these did *not* include any Flyladies!)
- bought a couple of food items at the local shop on the way home
- came home to find that DH has taken up my suggestion that he should meet up with his friends at the wargames shop and do some figure painting, so I had peace
- made lunch
- dealt with a difficult phonecall from the family I've been helping this week
- took Rosie out for her walk. I did a mile, maybe, in 45 minutes. She probably did 10.
- sat down with a cuppa until DH came home and read all the papers (so now I can throw the two free ones away)
- cooked tea
- took DH to war games club
- vegetated on sofa in front of TV for most of the evening, interrupted only by another phonecall from the family (but together we have sorted some of the problems)
I am counting what little I have done as an achievement
even though my desk is still a mess
Tomorrow is another day

Budget started for the year. I have calculated income and outgoing.. £68 short a month.. but I'm pretty sure I can magic that together somehow. Though I may need more as this does not account for other spending.. like fixing my hovel of a house, hair cuts (not for me!) and various other upkeeping things. I have 2 things in mind to pay off first which while not highest interest they have shortest time left .. so the interest paid on higher interest things will be offset by the amount saved on paying off the 2 I have in mind. I am hoping to get the christmas bits paid off by April when the new council tax and water bills start. Now I've bored myself.
I have a pile in the car to be deposited at the various places tomorrow. I have some more sorted to go to the shed. I have a huge pile to sort through but I think a lot can go to various other places without a second thought. I am very much looking forward to getting the back room looking nice again. Once that is done I am decorating the middle room (the one I am in the middle of emptying) then tiling the loo. I have the materials to do both so there will be no financial outlay to do either on those so no reason to have not done it already! LAZY ME!!!
Next steps in house reclaimation..
Middle room emptying.
Backroom emptying into middle room
Building work.
Decorating
flooring then carpet (hopefully I will have £130 from my mother plus the last £84 from her christmas payment) to cover underlay.
refill back room
shuffle everything in the middle room to the centre and decorate in there.. it is going to be grey instead of cream.
Tile and repaint in the wc. .. start selling to get new lino.. mine has a new loo in there and it is a different shape so left a big gap in the flooring... I'm not simply being frivolous.. the last bit was £15.
Then I have the kitchen to repaint.
I see a year of emptying rooms and decorating ahead with very little expenditure and a whole lot of using up what we already have.. that fills me with happiness.
4 hospital and 2 dentist appointments in the next 2 weeks so that should keep me busy.. One is a train journey away and the other a 30 mintue drive.. and I don't drive.. so this should be fun! OH is working for most of them too..
I've had a fun day, can you tell?
I've spoken to school about an assessment for Dot.. they don't seem to be particularly helpful .. but the teacher is an NQT and only been there since christmas.. we've had a really bad week.. she has been in full meltdown mode 3 nights after school because they moved stuff about and changed things.. 6 hours she screamed on Wednesday evening.. 3 on Monday and 3 on Thursday.. 2 were at school!! She has no close friend because no one can cope with her bounciness for long.. I have been told that by the other children! I think she needs the extra support and understanding as much as the rest of us do.
Anyway... 2 hours I've been waffling.. while doing 97 other things.. so goodnight to all and to all a good night.. hoping for great things and much tidy progress tomorrow.. much love and spoons and hugs and fluffy mules and cages for BD's xxxLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Paid stuff done. Managed another WM before I left and it's now on the winterdyke. Shattered now so just decluttering a cuppa then I'm off to bed.
Piggers I know you don't like hugs but {{{hugs}}} hope you can get something sorted with the school soon xx please remember to look after yourself too xxxI'm not a muggle...I'm just magically challenged0 -
I'm home from my work trip, got in at 7pm last night, was in my bed by 8 after giving Pickle a long cuddle.
Hubby has been a superstar while I've been away. He could almost be described as a fly man (doesn't have the same ring as fly lady does it?)
Skirting boards in our bedroom stripped back to the wood.
Ceiling painted
Walls 'painted' which he quickly renamed 'undercoated' as they've been painted brilliant white which is a bit stark, I wanted nutmeg white or similar.
Washing is all done and on the airers.
However, the house is soooo untidy. He's not cleared up after any job he's done. I am not complaining, I am not complaining. I am not complaining.
So today my focus is on finding my house.
Later everyone.

Morning
I was running on fumes at work yesterday afternoon - so I'm not rushing gung-ho into today. And that's my [STRIKE]excuse[/STRIKE] reason for still being in my dressing gown at 10 am
However I do need to get off my butt and do something. Getting dressed would be a good start
Anyone up for HHC starting …. now?
