Life is a minestrone as the song says - my new diary

Been a strange couple of days weather wise. Thursday was sunny and warm and had lunch and a catch up with a friend. We went to a cafe neither of us had been to which was lovely so we'll be back. Had a long walk afterwards then home.
Yesterday was incessant rain and because it was breezy, it was sideways rain . Decided to wear my waterproof trousers over my work ones otherwise I'd be sitting in wet clothes all day. I did stay dry but spent much of the journey trying not to slide off the seat on the bus :rotfl: By the time I finished work the sun was out again so arrived home dry.
Had homemade falafels for tea, not made them before and from what I've read some people find them very watery and soggy if using tinned chickpeas. I drained the chickpeas well in advance and let them dry off wrapped in some kitchenroll. They seemed to work though next time I'll use more cumin and coriander and rather than make them into patties will make them round as its easier to get the whole thing browned. Think I could make a big batch and freeze some :money:0 -
Sounds good
and I especially like the image of you sliding around on the bus

Its dry this morning so will head out in a bit as need to get some more bird seed and a couple of other bits. Also some money to pay into business account.
I'll need to pay a few CCs this weekend and check my finances generally. The leccy/gas bill email arrived and if I keep using a similar amount for the next month I think I'll be able to claim a refund as I'll be in enough credit :money:.
I'll cash out on Prolific later, had a few surveys yesterday and a small Ugov one. Had a small online sale which I posted yesterday as well.
Family are back from hols this weekend so might make a meal for them as they'll be tired after the long journey and washing mountain. Will check the rhubarb situation and might make more of the roasted rhubarb as have finished the stuff I made earlier this week.
Bit of a stooshie last evening, I've had to postpone my week away as the friend I was going to see has had an accident. She needs a bit of time to recover [broken bone] so I rearranged the cat sitter and my diary and rang the Tr@inline to exchange my tickets. That was a bit tortuous but went ok until the CC company blocked my payment  I had to quickly find another way to pay. Ended up using my debit card which wasn't what I wanted to do but it was the only card to hand - downside of hiding CCs so I am not tempted to use them. Had to ring the CC company to get the blocked lifted on my card and that took ages. I can see this new thing of CC companies sending a text to confirm a transaction is legit being a pain if you are on the mobile trying to make a phone purchase at the time :eek::eek:. Will go to the station and collect my tickets when I'm out today.

NSD as didn't venture out - lots of rain for most of the day and feels a lot cooler. Did a washing but obviously its hanging up inside
.
I have paid £600 off my 'try to pay it in full every month' card. Its not quite paid in full but the refund on my exchanged Tr@inline tickets will go back on that card which will clear it. I posted the tickets off for a refund on Friday so hopefully that won't take long.
2 of the 0% CCs have a payment due mid month so have paid £70 off one and £20 off the other. The third card is due at the end of the month [£5 minimum]. I've also put aside £200 towards the family roof repair loan so that will be my main debt busting effort for this month I think.
Made some mac cheese with carrots and leek for the family and will keep a portion for myself as have a couple of lateish evenings this week. Added some chopped up gammon to the family portions so that should make a decent tea for them.
Also made some ratatouille with veg that I had in already, had some for tea with brown rice. Have run out of garlic and forgot to get some yesterday when I was out - doh.
Think all this extremely wet weather is doing for my courgette plant:(. The two small courgettes that were forming have started rotting on the plant so I've removed them. There are others beginning so will have to see what happens.
I've had a small online sale this evening so will pop out and post that tomorrow and get a garlic bulb as well!!0 -
Family came round this morning to pick up the meal I'd made for them. Good to see them after their holiday even if there was a melt down from 4YO in relation to a biscuit
Wrote a few emails rearranging work commitments now I've rearranged my holiday dates. Couple of Prolific surveys done as well. Wrapped up my online sale and posted it this afternoon. Bought some garlic, a bit of fruit as I've run out and bought a loaf of 'nice' bread from the bakery. I'll be making quite a few packed lunches this week so it'll be good for that. Also saw a couple of books in one of the charity shops that I know my friend will enjoy so bought those for her.
Did about 1.5 hours in the garden when I got home. can't believe how much the weeds have grown after all the rain but at least some of them are relatively easy to pull out at the moment.
Another survey was approved on Prolific so I cashed out £20.88 and thats in my account now.
Going to the Book Festival tomorrow, meeting a friend for coffee there first. Will be working later so it will be quite late when I get back. Going to sort out my tickets and stuff for work now then bed.0 -

Sounds good!
And oh my, 4yo with tantrums. Ear splittting! My sympathies to all the adults (and the 4yo come to that, they don't enjoy it) hope everyone recovered soon.
Enjoy the festival.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hope your mum enjoyed herself - we might have passed each other who knows
