    Magpies are so clever!

Erm ... you wouldn't mind posting that recipe, or a link, would you? Any way of using rhubarb, apart from crumble, that someone finds appealing, has got to be a good thing.

Go the magpies, I saw one in the garden again today so hope it was feasting on snails

I made the roasted rhubarb this morning and I like it, its quite tart which is good as most recipes seem to throw lots of sugar at rhubarb. Think it will be yum with yoghurt and I'm going to put some on my morning muesli. It was this recipe https://www.rivercottage.net/recipes/honey-baked-rhubarb

Persistent rain this morning but it stopped for a wee while so I nipped out to pick a bit of rhubarb. Its quite thick and very stringy at this time of year so need 'peeling'. A bit fiddly but soon done and the smell of rhubarb and orange from the oven was lovely. Also roasted a tray of veg and added a splosh of balsamic vinegar I found in a cupboard. There should be enough veg to use in various ways for 3 evening meals. I'll make more of the rhubarb next time as this was just an experiment.

Off to work this afternoon which went ok and it stayed dry  Got the train home as couldn't face the crowded bus at rush hour.

Did a Prolific survey when I got home and also had a smallish Ugov one which I completed on the bus into work. Big old furry boy's food and litter was delivered while I was out at work, I'd left the shed unlocked for it in case it was wet. I'll have to pick up more BP pills for him tomorrow so he's been an expensive boy already this month.

Sad to hear that Toni Morrison has died today.

Our furry friends cost us lots of pennies :(
    But so worth it.

Definitely. I was sorting out some old papers recently and found some vet bills from when we had money and a poorly but much loved previous old boy. Scary amounts of money were spent :eek:

Thanks for the recipe link, teapot - HFW is someone I've come to really admire over the last year or so. And when I was repopulating the kitchen, I found my stainless steel baking trays, and I now have a proper place to store them, which is bliss :)

Good news to have accessible baking trays, mine are in a heap in a cupboard and not very organised :o. One of my favourite rhubarb recipes is for an upside down cake which you 'cook' in a frying pan and then bake in the oven. Its lush but I wouldn't make it now that its just me unless I had visitors :)

Got to the bus stop this morning to find workmen had coned it off . Rushed up the road to the nearest bus stop which is not very near at all - well as much as I can rush and the bus sailed by before I got there . They are only every half hour so I walked into town and picked up BOFB's tablets and waited for the next bus. Got to work with a few minutes to spare, phew stressful.

Very wet here today but managed to dodge the worst of the showers on the walk home from the station.

Lazy afternoon finishing my book and chilling out. Did a couple of invoices for work and sent them off. Got an auto reply to say the person I send them to is on leave until the middle of the month so they won't get processed for a while :p

Am up to £15.60 on Prolific so will see if I get any more surveys before the weekend and then cash out.

Its much cooler here tonight so I've shut all the windows and got a cardigan on :(

Why do workmen do this without any notice!
Glad you were not too wet, I was totally drookit earlier!
    Sweet dreams :)
