All I get is my PAYE details which obviously aren't in dispute. No mention of interest.

I got my 2017/18 P800 at the end of February this year; approximately correct.

So I won't be getting involved again till March. They'll have it running perfectly by then.

    Won't they? :D

I wonder whether it depends on whether you have ever been in self assessment?

Many years ago I did and I can see my interest details, whilst my wife who has never needed self assesment cannot.

I was in SA some years ago but then I became PAYE only, so I could opt out. It's only the advent of the £1000 free of tax interest that has got me involved again.

My 2017/18 figures on the P800 at initial testing were about £20 in tax out, not in my favour. But I only counted the interest on regular savers at maturity and I think the interim interest paid on some regular savers, like Virgin, could have accounted for the difference or at least part of it. I've written off the discrepancy, if that's what it was in fact.

A material difference in the 2018/19 figures - expected in February - could persuade me to make a SA.

Like badger* I was in the Revenue but that experience is of no help in the current shambles!

I have a couple of friends who work for the Revenue and they say that being a current employee isn't any help either. :(

We don't appear to have had any interest reported for 2018/19 from TSB (current accounts) and our Santander Regular savers which matured in the June.

Anyone else missing these two institutions??
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

My personal tax account does not report previous years' interest. However it takes the reported interest for the previous year and lists it in the detailed estimate for the current year.

My list excludes TSB and Santander as does yours. It also excludes Virgin Money.

I assume that your Santander regular savers matured in June 2018.

All our Virgin RSs are included. Yes, Santander RSs matured in June 2018.

The previous years figures all matched exactly with my records, including TSB and Santander (which I printed off, as it doesn't appear you can look back). Confused!

Also, should all the figures reported add up to the total (estimate) noted at the bottom? Or do they somehow extrapolate the data?

    Yes - mine didn't - it was under...by miles.

I corrected (deleted) one of the larger interest figures and responded to their request for the ac closure date.

A few days later I got a bill for £1300 in back tax for the previous year 18/19.. and the estimated interest total for 19/20 had been corrected by plus c£6.5K.

    So be careful!

Had an e-mail today suggesting that I visit my account online. It certainly provides more information since I last looked! Did this mean the problems are solved?

To my amazement I'm told that 2018/19 is clear, I don't owe any tax. But I've got an underpayment from 2017/18 included in codings for 2018/19 and an estimated underpayment for 2018/19 included in codings for 2018/19 and 2019/20; how they have been calculated and what figures they are based on is not explained. No list of interest details that I could see.

I've got the P800 for 2017/18 which I approximately agree. If you are not under or overpaid do you still get a P800 as without that how on earth do I check anything?

I've asked to re-join SA. Perhaps I'll get more from that.

My account breakdown for interest is no longer showing (just an overall total, from 17/18 numbers).

My OH still has the breakdown, and it looks to have been updated with 18/19 figures, but TSB and Santander figures missing as others have experienced. The total has also been recalculated (to match their new breakdown), and this appears to have been used for a tax code adjustment on 21st Nov.

ETA, just for info: I still can't get to the interest breakdown from the online tax account, having to use the link in this thread to see it
