  • We were kinda lucky in that when they collapsed we had already got to Vegas. However like the previous poster stated we had to arrange our own way home via Virgin or BA.

Virgin were no help at all, they had no flights until the 6th oct. Thats a long time in Vegas. BA however were great. We got a flight a day later than planned via philadelphia.

It was an inconvenience to us however my thoughts are with all the staff at Thomas Cook who lost there jobs.

Some of you may find this interesting. It's one of those 'the end of an era' stories.

Not so sure about it being turned into a wacky baccy shop though. It's a PITA smelling that stuff on the Strip. It gives me headache.

Strange, googling the place shows it was almost next door to the Gold and Silver Pawn shop. That’s definitely not south strip. More shoddy journalism from the BBC. We’ve driven past it many times, thought it must be a different place from their description.

Edit: I should read more carefully. Far up South Las Vegas Boulevard. I read Far south Las Vegas boulevard. Sorry.

We've probably driven past it, but I can't remember tbh.
I like the way there was a complaint about the Crazy Girls advertising. Even I rubbed the bum cheeks of that statue outside Riveria for luck. Didn't work of course. I always thought of that as a bit of fun, whereas those who pose for photos (barely) dressed up and are a bit eeeeewwwww.
There has always been that seedy side to the place, especially with those who hand out the mucky cards (I wonder if they will finally decide to get rid of those). But, in a way that's part of the tackiness to the place.
My problem is not places like that, it's just that it's gotten rather expensive. There is too much greed atm. The bubble surely is going to burst soon.

Not long to go before our trip. I’m still a bit worried that our flights will go south, but not losing a lot of sleep over it. On the day of the TC collapse I tried to find alternative flights via Virgin, got something acceptable and began to book. Went through most of the booking process only to find a much higher price on the payment page. Stopped there, opened a new tab and checked Expedia. Got the same flights via them for the original price. It’s not direct any more, but I’m cautiously optimistic that it will be fine.

Now to get on with snagging a few buffets from myVEGAS. Wish me luck.

    We fly on Sunday.
Thankfully booked with Virgin, so haven’t had the upset and worry of others.
7 of the 11 nights comped, so a fairly cheap trip flight and hotel wise.
Just means we put more in the slots and lose it that way.

Also the wife took out a Virgin Atlantic CC late last year, and we have just triggered the free companion flight, so hoping to book 2 flights for points plus taxes and fees for late March next year.
