We got hit by the BA piglets strike yesterday. Was due to fly to Vegas on the 9th in Club. Got email to say that sector has been canceled.

Read all the horror stories of people waiting hours on the phone lines to rebook. But ours was an Avios booking using a Lloyd’s voucher. So I rang Avios, got through in 30 minutes, sorted the same flight but 2 days earlier ( I had actually been looking for award availability to extend our holiday without success) and BA are footing the Signature hotel and food bills for those 2 days
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.
  • I know this is a Vegas forum, but as we all share a great taste in #1 holiday destination ... Do you guys have a favourite European city break?

Haven't really explored much of Europe to be honest, and would like to go away for a few nights early next July.

Any inspiration welcome from Vegas regulars :)

Most of our holidays are to the states, but in the last few years we have had what we call “samplers” to Europe.

We have just a few days..normally about 4 nights...just to try out places.
My favourite so far has been Prague.Beautiful city, coupled with the best beers at ridiculously low prices.
It’s the only place In Europe we have visited twice as I liked it so much.
Basically said to my wife it could become our “Vegas” of Europe.:rotfl:

Yes, Lisbon is a wonderful city.
To be honest, I've not been on a bad city break. In recent years, we've done Seville, Madrid, Prague, Barcelona. Paris, Lyon, Toulousr, Montpellier, Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, Liverpool, Brighton, Dublin, Belfast, Berlin, Rome, Florence, Venice, Pisa, Amsterdam, Salzburg, Budapest, Split, Duborovnik, Warsaw and Krakow, and all of those are highly recommended. Krakow is probably the best value and exceptionally pretty, and Warsaw was the nicest surprise, with a beautifully restored old town and incredible history..
Planning to do Valencia, Glasgow, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Antwerp, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Oslo, Bratislava, Lublijana in the future. In no particular order!

We love Venice, but you've been there, and Barcelona, but I bet you've been there too. Actually I can bet you've been to most cities ;)

We've been going on City Breaks too, as Vegas has been out of the budget for a couple of years, and Europe has made up for it.

So far, we've been to -

Barcelona - it was to go to the Nou Camp and see a football match, then they decided to cancel it and have the Copa Del Ray Final on the date instead. We did do the stadium tour though.
Barca is okay, but I don't think we will go back.

Rome, lovely but scruffy. Fantastic if you are a history buff, but you have to book online and get there early to beat the queues. Full of lucky lucky men too, who are a PITA.

And, we went to Paris in May. A fantastic place. Well worth checking out, although the Chinese/Japanese tourists are pig ignorant and try to stop you looking at stuff. It's the place we are definitely going to go back to. It's wonderful. It's worth it just to wander up and down the Champs Eleysee.

Going to Venice next month for the first time as well. Going to see the place where a certain part of the Strip got it's inspiration from.
