Thanks for the tip about butter beans Ally, I'd not thought about that, will add them to my shopping list as they're a good store cupboard item to have in.
Re electric toothbrushes - also worth trying compatible heads rather then the branded ones. We got a pack of 20 or may have been 24 heads from the rainforest people for the less then the price of 4 from oralB
Pleased with all I got done today considering the amount of wasted time on the phone sorting out a plumber for our other house. In the middle of all those phone calls though I got a text from a friend making sure I was still alright for our :coffee: & catch up tomorrow which made me smile.
Kids came back from school in good moods which surprised me a littleThey even helped me move some of their furniture around in the front room without any arguments :beer: Hoping that this little bit of a shift round will work better for how they both use the room (gives the youngest more floor space for when he's getting the lego out so that hopefully less gets hidden under the sofas! ) The room used to be "the playroom" but ds1 announced last year he was too old for a playroom so its just the front room now :rotfl:
ZIGGY Thanks for the tip about swag$ swago thing, I've been on sb for years and never done that before.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hello :wave: :coffee:
Well, I have survived my first day back and return to the routine... It was really busy but it's done. The only thing that bugs me about being this busy with work is that the small things start to get ignored and the frog list starts to grow a bitI just haven't got the time to do as much as I would have liked to.
However I have:
not succumbed to any takeaway or buying food and coffee at work so bagged a nsd on the food front.
Made an appointment that I've been putting off for ages.
Been to my doctor's appointment
Gotten my car tyre replaced - it was starting to bulge a little on the side wall so better safe than sorry. So I did end up spending but not mindlessly.
Checked my banking
However I have not:
trawled the house for change for a PAD of some sort.
Made a PAD from my bank account
Planned tomorrow's meals
These are things that I need to make myself do tonight so that I can stay on track with the new, frugal me.
Shorty - hope your first day at work has gone well.
Ziggy, feel better soon
Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Thanks all for your well-wishes, I don't know why I'm surprised when I get a cold and then feel really ill I should be used to it now, lol, the joys of a weak immune system and a dodgy heart are not a great combination but every day is a blessing and I intend to see something good in every day.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Evening all!
Friends came over today with little ones and ate up things we would otherwise not have finished for a while
Discovered DDs mate loves the ice cream no one else does (we picked it up forever ago on the coop fiver deal). He can come again!
Went through stash of greetings cards with my mate, and we swapped some we didn’t need / the other might make more use of. Her kids are 12 years younger than mine so rehomed a lot of kiddy friendly cards! That’s one tidying up job. There was one card in there that is a bit too much like student humour for me to ever send now. I’ve had it for about twenty years. Showed it to DD and she cracked up and has taken it to use with her mates. That made me feel old but happy it was finally making someone else laugh too!
Didn’t leave the house to spend today. WFH so saved on fuel and time (but spent on heating, kettles, food and power!).
Cooked a whole bag of jacket spuds while oven was hot for other things. Cooling overnight, will mash with bargain 10p packs of cheddar tomorrow and pop in freezer for easy comfort food.
Have triaged fridge into freezer portions and popped half of my bread/tea cakes straight into the freezer draw.
Must sleep! Nighty night!0 -
Yesterday was the first nsd for me this year. I’ve struggled with these recently. I’m back to work today although baby had different ideas to me in regards to sleeping. Work is going to feel very long!Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #820

Morning all :hello: feel better Ziggy
Quick post before I'm away out the door:
Hot drink for commute made with morning brew
Used some of my frozen pepper stash in sc chicken and chorizo I cooked in sc overnight. Looks a bit more colourful now.
Used 3 bags of frozen fruit with a few bits in each for breakfast and a manky banana. Plus some seeds from use up box
Quick wash on this morning out before work. Another one set to come on later
Check banking. PAD of 4p interest from an empty account to 1p challenge
Another bid on my fleabay item. Lots of watchers. Come and and bid people :rotfl:
Made tomorrow's tea last night from stuff I had in, chickpeas roasted bns and various spices and a couple of cubes of frozen spinach. Think I have a flatbread in the freezer too, must check my list. If not I'll whip up a batch.
Have a good day everyone. Let's hope the commute is kind now the world and his wife are back. Purps.0 -
Hi January Joy-Seekers,
Morning!:coffee: Lovely day off. 7p Top Cashback has been received. Gonna live the highlife with that. :rotfl:
Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Four:
* Check online banking. Done.
* Continue my new Challenge 500 miles challenge. I am going to travel 500 miles for free before the end of 2019: walking, hiking, climbing, cycling, running and swimming. (There is a charge to use the local pool but I will offset the cost in other ways so there is 'no charge'.) Will walk later. No Time.
* Continue to work through pile of wee frog jobs.The pile is in the middle of the sitting room. I am certain to deal with them now as looking at them drives me mad. Only one left.
* Give some more thought to my Personal Life Improvement Plan. Done.
*Contemplate some eBay selling. List a gizmo I'm not using. Done. Also listed a load of DVDs on eBay and Music Magpie'd and Ziffit'd two big bags full.
* Accompany DW to drop off her car for repairs. Car has been recalled so it's free but we have to drive to Mazda Timbuktu to drop the car off. DW will get a free hire car. Will look in Asda which we don't have in our home town while there. The car...dont' ask!

Morning all, Today I will be mostly powered by coffee
Ds was poorly in the night so I've cancelled todays plans and will just potter around at home instead. Todays list will be a TA-DAH list instead of my normal one.
So far I've
* used ys bread for other ds's breakfast and he's gone on the school bus instead of me taking him to breakfast club.
* popped to aldee to get milk and some veggies, didn't even walk down the aisle with chocolates as I knew I'd be tempted if I did (tired and grumpy 1LL)
* make leek and potato soup in the slowcooker using the chicken stock I made at the weekend
* make a veg sauce to go with 1/2 pack of mince, was going to do chili but I now have my niece after school until my sis finishes work and my sis doesn't "do" spicy" so make do with a bol type sauce - lots of healthy veg for the poorlies!
([STRIKE]might make a batch of chili anyway with the other half of the mince rather then freeze it hmmmm)[/STRIKE]
* made batch of chili
* run the washing machine on the quick 30 degree wash
* radiator shuffle
* banking checked
* a 2nd load in the washing machine on the quick wash
* ironed just the 1 shirt and 2 pairs of dh works trousers, everything else hung straight away
* washing on the radiators to dry when the heating comes on tonight
* shared ds1s packed lunch with him and had some soup
* made families lunches for tomorrow
* paid plumber
* renewed library books so as not to incur a fee
* sorted all the cupboards etc in the front room and got straight, added a couple of items into the cs bag that ds1 said they no longer wanted/needed
* accepted an invite to a rm survey
* sorted put my purse & handbag, filed away receipts and dug out a receipt for school trousers that I'm going to take back later in the week.
* done a couple of surveys
* moved a bottle of mulled wine and a bottle of alddeee baileys type drink into our suitcase so that I remember to take them on our uk holiday (8 of us going) at Easter. We don't drink at home so may as well take them there - with the tins of quality streets we bought after xmas
* sewn up a whole in ds's school bag, his bag is so heavy I'm not surprised I have to keep sewing it up!
* another survey came up which meant I could claim a £5 amzon voucher
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Morning all
Big hugs to all the poorlies. 1LL I hope your DS is better soon
Feeling a bit sleepy being back to work. I don't like the extra early starts! I'm normally awake by about 6.30-7.00am but 5.45 gets me each time.
Today's mission:- B/L/D from stores. OH mentioned tuna pasta bake for tea but it'll be a use up of lots of odd pasta if it is! - done
- Charge phone in work - done
- Gym at lunch time if programming appears - done. It was vicious.
- Heating low - OH has had it on... I am treating myself to a cheeky sit by the elec fire
- No alcohol - done
- OH to do housework - done
- Mend a hole in the thumb of my glove - done
- Crochet - done
- Ask advice from car buying colleagues about How To Buy A Car. We are starting to look for our first very smart car. I have always bought quite cheap (approx. £1000) second hand ones but the type of car we want/need tends to have high mileage second hand so we need to look at nearly new. - done. I have seen a potential car
