    Morning folks!

ccl - well done to your DD for being so level headed :)

I've been sitting crocheting and thinking about cars and finance all yesterday evening. I have had some fab advice from various folks, which is tying in well with some of my own conclusions so I'm feeling more confident (although daunted at the thought of that amount of money  )

Today is my "Friday". It's my last 3 day week before normality hits. I had so much leave to use, I've been doing 3 day weeks instead of 4 since mid-November! I work long days though so it's still full time hours.

    Today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores - done
    • Gym at lunchtime - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Heating off all day - done
    • Submit meter readings - grrrr. They don't like my gas usage again (we were away for 4 days). Every time I don't cane the gas for the CH, they freak out and remove the gas from my app for a few weeks.
    • Sort out Christmas cupboard if can be bothered. OH put everything away but I think I can organise it better. Plus I want to check that nothing is getting squashed, and there are some more bits that he missed! - done
    • Crochet - done
    • Try not to think about cars for a bit. My head is a bit frazzled - I did think a bit about them haha
    • No alcohol - will stick to this despite it being "Friday" night. - decided better tonight than tomorrow night
    Have a good one all

    Hi all :hello:

Well today is off to a great start, with an unexpected pay rise :j:j:j

    Yesterday's list-ette:
    - log expenses for claiming - half done, adding receipts today
    - download some free podcasts for the drive home done, listened to R4 stuff all the way home

    Today's list:

    - fridge audit once in-laws have gone, freeze everything that needs it
    - turn unnecessary radiators off/heating down (gas usage was HIGH over crimbo with us in the house all day)
    - make list of the radiators with broken valves (start of epic house fix list)
    - collate mending pile for weekend excitement

Hope everyone has a fab day :D

    Morning all,

Dizzy, good thinking about looking for free school holiday things to do - we are usually away for Feb half term but are going away at Easter instead so I will have a look for things round here for Feb.
Merida - great news on the payraise
Clf, My dh is starting to bring changing his car up in conversations again, we have this every couple of years. He does very high mileage for work but I don't see the point in changing so often but happy hubby = happy life and all that! On that costly note I better think about money saving things...

Todays list (might end up as a TA-DAH list again as I seemed to get lots more done yesterday!)
    * ds1 back to school after having ys bread with his eggs for breakfast :)
    * ds2 to free school breakfast club :)
    * gym session done and refilled water bottle there :)
    * check banking/update spreadsheet and email updated spreadsheet to myself in case my computer packs up! :)
    * drink lots of water today - need to lose a lot of weight and my caffine intake has got up over this Christmas period which I don't think is helping with my sleeping either :)
    * all meals from stores that I cooked yesterday, the kids and I can have spag bol :) and dh can have the chili & rice (he's not eating with us as he's going to be late)
    * make familes lunches for tomorrow :)
    * update ds2s health/medication diary - he's got extra appointments this month and I need to be organised
    * update list of jobs that need doing whilst out and about and decide when to do what (got messed up with ds being off ill yesterday) add in pick up prescription and more night nurse :)
    * wash a load on the quick 30 degree wash :)
    * radiator shuffle washing away ready to put ^ on :)
    * heating off until the kids get home at the earliest :)
    * freeze a couple of portions of the chili rather then make dh eat it for the next three days!
    * when muscl3food delivery arrives, split into smaller bags/portions and freeze
    * update freezer inventory
    * meal plan for the next couple of days
    ** rm survey done
** Deep cleaned the dishwasher with elbow grease, vinegar and hot water
** Deep cleaned microwaves and oven as above
    **

Thats my starter, have a good day all
B**ger ds1 has just text saying he's feeling poorly - Id put some calpol melts in his bag so I hope that helps. :o

    Morning all :)
Nice sunny morning here, though very cold and frosty
    So far today I have:
Had home grown dried fruit with my breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit :)
Washed up, emptied and cleaned bin and cleaned worktops :)
Watered and fed plants in bathroom (orchids and ferns) - is this moneysaving? Well, I have had them for years, and that means I don't buy new plants / other decoration for my bathroom!
Cleaned lower stairs, including wiping down paintwork - I have someone coming to measure and quote for a new carpet for it tomorrow, so thought I ought to clean it ready :)

    Still to do:
Check banks and update spreadsheet (will wait till after shopping for this) In progress
Peg out washing (when I have gathered up the courage to brave the cold ) Done, it dried mainly, just needs finishing off overnight on the airer :)
Need to buy a few things from the supermarket (didn't want to but OH has run out of beer, bagels and bananas and is feeling very sorry for himself as he has got a cold :rotfl:), and fill car up with fuel while I am out. Will also buy some food for the birds as I felt sorry for them in the cold this morning :(Done
Finish tidying up in the garden Done :T
Move a load of logs up from the garage to the wood store, to make room for the additional logs that OH has ordered :(Done
Also finished clearing up the garden after our landscaping project :)

Sold the paving slabs that we took up, a few £££ to put towards the cost of the materials we have been buying

Bits from fridge / leftovers for lunch, make something for dinner. Found 2 portions of oxtail stew in the freezer, had this with half baked potatoes and cabbage (which also came from the freezer) :)

May make more soup and a batch of scones as well! Made curried parsnip soup to use up some parsnips I bought before Christmas, stilton and walnut scones to use up rest of Christmas stilton and some of the nuts, and made fruit scones as well as I had all the stuff out. Froze most of the scones :) Also found a packet of trifle sponges (don't know when I bought those, but they were well OOD :o). They were all sealed up and looked ok, so I made up a jelly and poured over half of the sponges, to make a sort of semi trifle. Won't be adding custard and cream, as our waistlines don't need that  but it will be something sweet for after dinner tomorrow :)

Rest of housework can wait till tomorrow!
  • Morning,

I thought I would check back into here as I have been AWOL for a little while and miss writing my to do lists. January seems to have been a tad expensive so far and we are only 9 days in :rotfl:. A lot of that has been on days out for the boy and me whilst he has still been off school and the odd meal out here and there. I am going to rein it back in over the next week or two.

I am currently on annual leave and haven't been utilising my time as best as I could be. I have a lot of sorting out to do.

All my finances and banking are up to date. I check my accounts daily to ensure everything is as it should be and the budgets are set for the month ahead.

There is absolutely loooooads I could be doing but I have no motivation right at this moment. I seem to be really tired lately and sleeping lots which isn't good. I think I am going to start writing a to do list and will try to get as much done as possible.

Now off the top of my head..

    - Phone my CPN and arrange a visit.
    - Go food shopping for fresh items only.
    - Sort out my makeup.
    - Wash my makeup brushes,
    - Put ironing away.
    - Print off some pictures for boys homework.
    - Change my bedding.
    - Give my shoes a home :rotfl:

I am sure there is more that needs doing but this is a start!
    Chandelier.
    Current Debt Repaid:
    £104/£619.

    Check out my Diary
    :D
  • Morning guys :D I'm off work today as haven't been very well. Have had a cold/virus that took a turn yesterday and I ended up asking to leave about 1 as felt shocking. Felt shocking all evening then woke up at 4 with a blinding headache! Ouch! I feel ok right now but it seems to come and go.

    So just taking it easy.

Have completed a HRMC form to say I don't think I need to do a tax return. Its a hangover from when I was doing ms while out of work a few years ago but don't want to give it up in case I decide to do some again. Need to keep an eye on this and if I don't have a response by last week in Jan do the return!

read news letter. Thinking of getting the £7.50 pm sim. Need to check when my contract is up. Think it's v soon

All meals from stores - will bung turkey in pc for a curry - quick easy meal. Need to ask oh to get some rice! erm maybe I'll do some cous cous concoction instead as we have that!

Might get sewing machine out but depends on how the virus take me!

found some fabric I want to get to make roller blinds. Have book marked it to show oh tonight

As I'm not working tonight no asc fees :D

Think I'm going to go and have a bath & read a book in a minute

Dnms, hope you're feeling better soon, so many nasty bugs doing the rounds at the minute. Re ; mobile sim, I don't know how much data you use but thought I'd mention ID mobile, I've got a 30 day contract with them for £5 and get 1GB data. 500 minutes and unlimited texts (and data rollover - so each month I actually have at least 1.5gb available.

    Hi Frugalistas,
    Today's money saving efforts:
*Two baths from one lot of hot water.
*Bedroom heaters turned down again. Can always put back up if we get colder weather.
*Free fitness - did 30 min brisk circular walk around village.
*Bake rolls & pizza base - all on 2nd proving.
*Checked newly arrived CC bill. No nasty surprises.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Sorted out what mr f thought was a fault on our new coffee machine. It isn't. Problem solved by reading the manual, which took all of 30 seconds.
*Heated airer switched off. The tiny bit of laundry left on it can finish airing on its way upstairs.
*Fed sourdough jar ready for when we need another loaf.
*mr f researching good mobile deals atm.
*Finish knitting front of jumper & cast on sleeve.
I have to attend a meeting tonight so I shall need to eat early, so I think I will make some coffee, find a 50 calorie snack & have some leisure time.
Hope all poorly people pick up very soon. I hear flu has arrived in the UK for its annual stint & our local hospital is warning about noro virus so that vile bug is clearly here also. Hand-gel being applied in industrial quantities when out & about and defo by mr f who works with children & teens.
    Ok, coffee time,
