Morning everyone. :-)
Last day of the holidays today, with everyone back to school/work tomorrow, so an organisation day today so I'm not doing the usual rush around the school bags/uniform etc at midnight! It may take 4 times as long but I am determined the kids are going to start taking more responsibility for their own stuff.
Today:
Check all PE kit still fits and hand-me-down where needed Done - All washed last week but after a bit of shuffle, I need to re-name the hand-me downs. Eldest needs new trainers, but PE isn't until next week so I've got time to look for some cheap ones. They
Get kids to clean their own shoes Done! DS3 school shoes have the sole coming off at the toe, but I've glued back with super strong glue and hoping to get another small stint out of them, even if it is another week. They are only 3 months old and good condition otherwise, and his feet haven't grown
I nearly went out to buy trainer whitener, but had a go with vinegar first, and it worked a treat :money:
Washing on airer Done. I bought sash cord yesterday and re-instated the broken Sheila Maid airer in the kitchen. Love that airer - everything out the way
Check online banking Done, found a £20 payment I'd forgotten about for wine club I forgot to cancel after the freebie voucher. I think I can get a refund
Send DS1 done to DH office with a packed lunch Done
List items for sale - Will look at tonight. Managed two yesterday finds from my Room of Doom yesterday
Organise the coming week in diaries/calendars Done, but confused myself with an outpatients appointment that may, or may not, be tomorrow! Must ring to confirm
Top up DS2 school dinner fund - It's in the minus so I think he may have been choosing dinner even when we've given him a packed lunch :rotfl: - need to have words!
Sew cub/scout badges on jumpers Found these last night and forgot I haven't attached them yet. Cubs is tomorrow so must, must, must do this today
Revise for Welsh lesson tomorrow -Not done!
Swim - DH has offered to come home from work early so I can swim before he goes out tonight. Really grateful as it is very much needed and this is the last opportunity before Thursday.
Determined New MS Can I ask how much time you spend at your allotment? I used to have one but took on too much, got overwhelmed, ended up hating it because I couldn't keep up and it was never as neat as the others on the plot. The kids are much older now, and I too work 3 days per week. I'd love to look into getting one again, and wonder if a couple of hours on each of my days off would be enough, if it was a small plot? The kids aren't interested at all, but they are all at school now so I don't need to worry about taking them.0 -

Gosh hard to say at the moment zerobut am going to make a concerted effort to get it to the point of little maintenance. With a half plot I would say ideally 10 hours a week during the summer months when it's fully how I want it to be. I try to go in short bursts 1-1 1/2 hours at a time. Little and often works for me.
I'm going to build raised beds, have mulching down for non growing areas. I'm going to invest in a flame weeder to clear the ground at the start of the season. Which should make it easier.
I just do what I can and feel happy with whatever I do. Seems to work for meDF as at 30/12/16

Take the shoes to Timpsons and get them re-soled? Also, Timpsons have an ethical 'thing' going. They employee folk who might otherwise be 'unemployable' and if you are unemployed they will dry clean your suit for an interview for you. (Link) It's worth saying, "I'm broke, can you knock 50p off the price." This has worked for me when I've been skint and shoeless.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

- Research new toothbrush and dehumidifier
Is that a combined device?! Some new thing by James Dyson perhaps? :rotfl: In all seriousness, factor in the cost of replacement brushheads for the toothbrush is you're getting electric. Lots of the brushes on offer in our local Boots are dirt cheap, but the heads aren't.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

We had a good local cobbler who retired this year, otherwise I would take them there. Timpsons is a good hour away, so not really cost-effective unfortunately. I took some zips to be replaced on my favourite pair of shoes recently and paid £35. Both zips broke the first time I put them on again, so not really very impressed.determined_new_ms wrote: »Gosh hard to say at the moment zerobut am going to make a concerted effort to get it to the point of little maintenance. Thanks.I never really had the chance to do little and often before, trying very long (non kid-friendly) stints with too much time for weeds to grow/things to die inbetween. :rotfl: I need to investigate how much/big the local plots are. The noticeboard says there are some available, so I may take a trip down there and have a nosey.

Afternoon all
Thanks for starting the thread AllyI didn't sleep well either
Ziggy, hope you are better soon. There are some horrible bugs around again
Shortie, hope the new job goes well
:hello: Hello to everyone else
Not feeling great today, hopefully I am not getting another of the GC's colds! But determined to get some useful stuff done:
Cleared up kitchen (again!)
Checked banks, must update spreadsheet after I have posted this. Spreadsheet now updated
Restocked sales unit, and have put away the few things I brought back
Leftovers for lunch
Freecycler came at last to pick up a pile of unwanted plastic pots :T Not moneysaving, but I like to clear the clutter without adding it to landfill.
Small shop at Mr S
Ordered flowers for bestie's birthday, went through quidco for cash back.
OH went out and spent loads on more raised bed materials  More money-spending than money saving going on today
He took a children's sand pit thing to DD's, more decluttering
He also picked up a couple of gifted pheasants from a friend (now prepped and in the freezer - his job, not mine!)
Someone is supposed to be coming to pick up a sales item at an inconvenient time which will involve doing dinner later than usual  Now done
OH has just lit the stove - it has been quite mild during the day for a couple of days now, but gets cold when it starts to get dark. Unsurprising in January I suppose!
Kettle on stove for free hot water
Will be jacket potatoes and *something* for dinner - OH will have leftover pheasant from yesterday, and I will probably just have cheese and veg with mine.
Sold some paving slabs that we have taken up to make a new raised bed. They are old, so only a few pounds, but at least they will be out of the way - desperately trying to tidy up and declutter the garden atm! They are apparently being picked up in the morning; if not, someone else is waiting to buy them0 -

Haha! No! We've had our elec one for a long time. OH wants a better one (he does have very uneven teeth and the dentist recommended a new one).
I have seen the dehumidifier I want too. I just need to check if I can get it cheaper!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310
