Morning NMC :) Glad you enjoyed your weekend away. How do you work your NSD's? I just notch them up if I don't spend anything out of my personal spends, but anything else if OK. Try not to get too hung up on them, the overall weekly/monthly figure is what matters :) Have a good day. xx
  • Hi Tea
Its from my personal spends only I don’t count for travel to work or food budget etc.
Low spend yesterday succumbed to a diet fizzy drink and treat £2 but another lunch to work x
It’s a colleagues birthday so will be contributing to the present today and also out for lunch too. It’s my friends birthday tomorrow so I need to collect the gift after work and also my youngest has run out of her snack bars she likes.
Better get ready we have had a rather lazy morning.
    Have a lovely day
    best wishes

  • Hello Thursday,
Busy couple of days - just popping in before I take the girls to brownies
Spendy day yesterday as expected, we had a team lunch for a colleagues 40th birthday, had to buy more dressing and a gift bag for another colleagues birthday gift.  So yesterdays damage:
    Lunch  - £9.30
    Dressing - £7.68
    Gift bag - £1.29
Today I picked up a parcel at asda after work and before the school run it was for a friends birthday present, however, whilst there I saw some laundry baskets reduced from £6 to 45p, and a good size too as mine is rather small so I bought 4 + a bag for life.  I have got one for my mum, one for my friend, one to be kept at the caravan and one for home.
    Thursday's damage
    4 x laundry baskets + 1 bag for life - £1.95
We also  need bread we are down to one slice, but I am going to hold off and get some tomorrow out of the my"fresh" food budget as its payday.
My £20 weekly budget starts tomorrow - I have some money still in my purse - £4.05 will put the 5p in my money box, nothing to write home about mind and there is about £2 in my bank account !
I have a hair appointment on Saturday afternoon and on route I am going to get my mum an afternoon tea voucher at a local coffee shop she goes to every Thursday with her friend as a gift for Mother's day, this is all budgeted for and separate from my "fun fund" !  I will get her a little gift from the girls and taking her out to lunch next Sunday.
Better get the girls ready then going to pop into my friends with her birthday present.
    Have a lovely evening

Friday already and payday too  :)

I have taken out the money for:
    Weekly fun fund - £20.00
Food Shopping - £200.00 (myself and OH split the costs)
    Mothers day - £30

There was a limit on what I could get so I need to call later and get my money out for my hair tomorrow which is £60 for a colour, cut and blow dry which is quite reasonable.  I will never cut and colour my own hair I  have made them mistakes in the past and ruined it I have short hair too and is thick so it needs lots of thinning out.  I have been going to my hairdresser since i was 20 so she knows my hair better than I do.   Anyway I digressed........

Paid my next off (again !) - £119
School dinners - £36 (this covers up to Easter)

Popped into morribobs after the school run to "top up" bread, fruit, veg, turkey, crumpets and a treat for the girls this came in at £16.91 out of the food budget.   Not going to lie I could of bought more but refrained and as I always walk around my local area knowing I have to carry it back does help.  It was really busy too and no hand wash.  I am trying not to panic about it but feeling a little worried we are not prepared but not sure what to prepare for if that makes any sense!

I have just had my breakfast and now going to give the house a clean and change the girls beds.   Need to write a list for the food shop and some ironing to do.

OH is treating us to fish and chips for tea  well I don't have fish just chips and the girls will have a kids meal - safe to say I can't wait,  haven't had them in ages.

Back to WW tomorrow,  I haven't' been for 3 weeks first it was youngest birthday celebrations with her friends, then I scalded my arm and had to get that look at and away last week so looking forward to getting back "on it" after a couple of weeks enjoying life a little but too much.  My jeans are feeling tight to say to least !

Oh and oldest is complaining her polos shirts for school are too tight on her arms so will see what they have in asda - I set aside £20 per month for school things this normally get consumed with gifts for parties or after school clubs but no parties planned and the after school club was paid last payday.

    Have a lovely Friday

Hi NMC :) Money left over is always good no matter how much it is (where's that clapping hand emoji when you need it)   :D Your laundry baskets must be the bargain of the year! Love the afternoon tea gift for your Mum, exactly the sort of thing I'd enjoy.

I know what you mean about not exactly knowing how to prepare. What I've decided to do is pretty much repeat shop things that I'd normally only buy every 2 or 3 weeks - so for example washing up liquid, soap, sugar etc. I don't know whether buying one of these things every week makes me as bad as somebody who goes out and stocks up a trolley full but I think not as I'm only going to be doing this for the next 4 weeks to build some stocks up. NOT pasta though lol. We only eat it once a week and more often than not buy fresh - if that's even the right word for it!

I've never cut my own hair but I will colour it occasionally. I think hair can make or break how you feel some days so I reckon it's money well spent.  ;)

    Have a lovely weekend. xx

  • Thanks Tea, that is true it would have been more if I stopped buying snacks and treats, well food in general (on top of the weekly shop)!   :#  I was so impressed with my bargain laundry baskets I was spreading the word !  I think I will just do the same to be honest, I will just continue as normal and get what we need.   I am frightening of running out of the essentials in honesty, bread, milk etc we have enough pasta too :-)

I won't compromise on my hair I am with you, my hair is ready for a good cut and colour I will feel better tomorrow and its the only thing I have done to be honest on a regular basis in terms of beauty I am not high maintenance at all in that area!  well that and my eye brows waxing but if you see the state of them at the moment I need to sort them out pronto !

    Have a lovely weekend too

  • Hello Saturday
NSD from my fun fund yesterday !
We are sat chilling on the sofa watching Saturday night takeaway.   Went to WW this morning 7.5lbs on  :o  to be honest  thought it would have been more.
I came home and did some ironing then went to the hairdressers. Small spend of £3 on some lunch but that it for a Saturday, first time ever.   So £17 left in fun fund.
Mothers day present all sorted just need a card and gift bag.
Tomorrow its food shopping day (if there is any food left in the supermarkets !)
    Enjoy the rest of Saturday

    Hello Sunday x
We did the weekly food shop this morning couldn’t even get into Aldi so turned back and tried Morrison’s. I have never seen anything like it and I am finding it all overwhelming as well as worrying.  Didn’t get everything we needed who would of thought quorn mince would be so popular !! I buy two bags a week but the freezer was bare ! And don’t get me started on trying to get hold of chicken breast !  Afterwards we had some breakfast in the cafe and a brew I spent £3.45 from my fun fund so £13.55 left.  I also got some toast crumbs stuck on my throat and started to cough I nearly got escorted out of the building I could feel eyes all on me but I seriously had just eaten too much toast in one go !!  We had roast dinner at my mums and sticky toffee pudding which was yum 😋 told my mum (she’s 69) to pack an emergency bag in case we need to get her in the event of “lock down” she thinks I have lost the plot ! But I said I don’t want her on her own for a long period of time.
its just hard to know what to do for the best in honesty so will just keep on going as normal and try not to get too fraught about things.
Let see what the week brings ........
    Take care and stay safe.
    Best wishes

Hi NMC :) I can just imagine the looks you got when you started coughing! My plan at the moment is pretty much the same as yours, to carry on for as long as we can while taking extra care with hygiene and slowly building up a few stocks. I've been reading that some people on here have bags packed in case of emergencies - not just because of C-19 and while I think that's a great idea I'm far too lazy to do that. But I'm going to write a list of what we'd need to take with us if the worst case scenario happens and one of had to go into hospital. I'm an at risk group, but touch wood it won't come to that.

    Have a lovely day. xx
  • Make sure you take care of yourself Tea x

Its been a busy couple of days at work, schools are still open and the girls school have been really good at keeping parents/guardians informed.   The girls brownies, swimming and football have been cancelled so we have a weekend free.

There are a few people at work in self isolating for various reasons and a fair few are working from home now its all becoming a bit too real and I have to say still finding it overwhelming and rather anxious about it, its not the actually getting the virus but the implications particular financial and trying to ensure the girls and OH are ok (we can't afford for OH to be off sick he doesn't get full pay like I do)!  Made me realise even more how important it is to be financially secure and have adequate savings, which we don't at this time !  I have been getting in a bit of a state worried we won't be able to keep up with everything and then lose the house.

Anyway in other news, I have had a couple of spends yesterday and today:
    Monday
    Boots - calpol and parcetamol - £4.30
    Tuesday
Toothpaste, drink, deodorant, shower gel - £3.85
"Nanny" mothers day card - £1.49
So I have £3.91 left of fun fund.

I asked OH to get a mother day card from the girls for my mum on Saturday he bought one with "grandma" on ! Shes been a grandparent for 21 years and never in that time been called grandma !! So I am going to try and return it.  :*

I also thought I had found some hand gel in Boots - nope picked it up started walking off with it and it was lube !!! it was near the checkout and there was only 1 left so I don't think I have been the only one making this mistake or its just a popular product in general !!!!   :)

    Stay safe and well
    Best wishes
