Hermes getting away with theft

My experience with Hermes is the most annoying. One time I was expecting a parcel, the weather was good so I was outside my door catching fresh air. Royal Mail delivery person came and gave me my letter. On opening, it said that Hermes had attempted to deliver my parcel and failed!
Instead of delivering my parcel, they sent me a letter. By the way the parcel never arrived. The shop where I bought the item from, had to refund me. I think the business should close and start another service because they are not able to deal with delivery.0 -
I agree... Tuffnell are so much better

My Hermes delivery people have always been brilliant.I had a delivery two weeks ago from Germany, it actually arrived 4 days earlier than stated, I did get an email telling me it was arriving early. I live in an upstairs flat when it arrived the driver said this is heavy can you carry it up the stairs? Then he brought it up for me.0

Well stop buying from sellers using them....Jacquijax said:I am in the same boat with Hermes but as the receiver of the parcel. It was over 4 days late and I contacted them to find out where it was and I was told it was on its way to keep checking the tracker. The tracker was saying the same thing it did on the day it was supposed to be delivered and that's was 5 over 5 days by that time. When I checked ebay tracking it told me the parcel had been damaged and was delayed for delivery. When I asked hermes about this they had no idea and said the parcel was lost to give them a description, after given them a description on two occasions they where still asking for one. Clearly nobody was looking into it. Then on the fifth day of contacting about this parcel they tell me it was destroyed beyond repair so they got rid of it. This was a solid metal vintage cloat rack!!!!!! How the hell can they destroy it beyond repair and what the hell are they doing to do that. Then 3 days latter when the seller contacts them about it, it hasn't been destroyed its just lost again. I do not belive any of this and feel that someone at Hermes has stolen it as they know they can just get away with it by saying its lost because there is clearly no repurcussion for these actions... I was also told by Hermes that they will open a parcel if they feel the packaging is damaged then re wrap it. To be honest with you, that to me sounds like an easy way to look in parcels and see if you want it or not... Hermes needs to look at their staff and polices as they are a terrible courier company and this stuff happens all the time.... Please stop using them.....0 -

I am no fan of Hermes but if you pay peanuts you get monkeys!Fariyqueen said:
I sold a shower on eBay, sales value £522, plus £8 postage fees. It never arrived. I had to refund the buyer and am out £530. I've been offered £25 as I hadn't opted for enhanced insurance. Why should we have to pay to protect ourselves from a companies ineptitude at doing their core business?
I really think there must be tens of thousands of us frustrated, disgruntled, customers who've been mugged by Hermes. It would be worth getting a class act together as this loophole of theft must be closed down.
Did you ever get anywhere with your case?
Thanks,

To run a proper, reliable and secure delivery service to transport a £522 presumably fairly heavy item to any address in the country would cost a lot more than £8! However everybody wants everything for nothing!
Long before all these services became commonplace the Royal Mail, back then a staid, ponderous state institution, had a virtual monopoly. However even they were allowed by law to limit their liability to, if I remember correctly, the cost of 100 ordinary stamps. (I think now that has been reduced further to the price of 20 stamps!)
Anything beyond that was Registered / Special Delivery at a significant cost and with a fairly limited maximum weight. Ordinary parcel post, back in those days, was a bit of joke as I remember.
Postage refund, plus compensation on basis of the customer’s actual loss. This compensation is subject to the maximum payable being the lower of the market value of the item and £20 (£50 for Royal Mail Signed For®).

I’ve not sent anything but do receive loads of stuff I’ve bought online. Many firms do use Hermes and so far (fingers crossed) I’ve received everything.Being retired and at home a lot has probably got a lot to do with it.

I don't know if cope1 classes my post just above theirs as 'defending Hermes' but it isn't defending them.
I've just given my own personal experience of Hermes.
That is not 'disgusting'.
Anyway, this thread was started in January 2019 and the OP last logged on at the beginning of this year.1 -
I think cope1's post must have been delivered by Hermes .... it's gone missing.

How do you get past the automated answering with hermes customer services.I tried calling them the other day and said I had a tracking number, but not beginning with a number. I was asked for the first 3 digits and gave T00, but the machine thought I said P00, so I couldn't go any further....aaargh!
