I bought a shirt online, and was told the courier, MyHermes, would deliver it this afternoon. I was out at the time, and when I returned, an email informed me my parcel had been delivered to my address. No parcel was there, nor was there a card. The email even showed I had left a signature. Please avoid using MyHermes at all costs. I suspect the driver has stolen my item, and will probably sell it on eBay. This happens a lot in the logistics world, items of freight go 'missing' all the time. Two years ago I bought a guitar pedal online and it never arrived. Same problem, different courier. I now have the inconvenience and expense of buying another shirt. I am f@:*ing furious!
  • You literally have no clue that’s what will happen or what the driver will do with the item that he probably hasn’t stolen anyway.

Ridiculous post on an old thread - yawn

I'm fairly sure that your Hermes driver isn't going to risk his job over a shirt.
More likely it's been stolen from your doorstep, but either way thats not your concern. You need to get in touch with the company you purchased the item from as your contract is with them not Hermes.

And probably best drop the dramatics in your communication with them as well as it will make them less likely to want to deal with you favourably.
  • Myhermes don't care if your parcel is stolen because you the customer are powerless. I'm in the process of chasing a 'lost' 1 metre x 60 x 50 parcel which vanished a 2 weeks ago. I am under no illusion that it will actually turn up or that they are making any effort to find it. After 10 days they have still made no comment. They will string me along for the max 14 days and say it couldnt be found. I know this because its all happened before so I have no one to blame but myself. You wouldnt believe that a multi national company could be so 'dodgy'. Of course if they vetted their drivers properly, paid decent wages and stamped out this persistent theft the company would no doubt fold. Unscrupulous! Use the vastly preferable Parcelforce.

In December I sold my 27” monitor on eBay and promptly dispatched to the buyer. After 10 days in the hands of Hermes it still showed as “with parcel shop” although the shop – Doddle in Canary Wharf - confirmed it was picked up the same day. They even called Hermes who confirmed this.
After a long wait on their chat I finally got through to someone confirming the parcel has been “deemed lost” in their depot. From the many complaints I’ve read, seems a lot of parcel go “lost” in the Hermes depot. I ask for the next steps and receive a claims form which has a link to non-compensation items – turns out monitors are one of these items. My claims form was rejected as they "don't compensate for monitors above 21 inch".
This makes sense from the point of view that these items are fragile and can break. Fine. But Hermes are solely responsible for the “loss” (theft) of my item. What they are saying is essentially that Hermes can get away with stealing monitors above 21 inch.
How easy it is to claim no responsibly for certain products and let their staff get away with theft. Absolutely disgusting – how this company is allowed to continue after the proven track record of “lost” parcels is beyond me.
They keep brushing me off using the non-compensation list argument - but does such a list really give them the right to get away with theft?!? I have never been robbed in my 42 years and now I'm expected to shut up and accept it. Not happening. Any idea what I can do as a start?
    Hello,
{Text removed by Forum Team}. Did you see the Channel 4 tv show (Joe Lycett's got your back) last week exposing them of dumping some 10% of parcels, many of which were clearly labelled and could have been delivered, into an auction house in Birmingham on a weekly basis? Do they pay back owners of these 'Missing" parcels, nope, or maybe the standard £20, but if they are able to sell an item of much higher value, where do these sales get recorded and WHY IS THIS COMPANY ALLOWED TO BLATENTLY STEAL AND CARRY ON TRADING?
I sold a shower on eBay, sales value £522, plus £8 postage fees. It never arrived. I had to refund the buyer and am out £530. I've been offered £25 as I hadn't opted for enhanced insurance. Why should we have to pay to protect ourselves from a companies ineptitude at doing their core business?

I really think there must be tens of thousands of us frustrated, disgruntled, customers who've been mugged by Hermes. It would be worth getting a class act together as this loophole of theft must be closed down.
Did you ever get anywhere with your case?
    Thanks,

I'm afraid you share some blame here for being so cheap.  You sent something worth over £500 by a cheap postage method and didn't take out insurance.  Next time, use a proper courier service and take out insurance.

Im with the OP, the restricted list seems reasonable for damage but for complete loss feels like theft to me.  They basically have a loophole that means they can steal any monitor of a large size and has no comeback

Then the answer is to stop penny-pinching, use a decent courier service and take out appropriate insurance.  As long as people care more about saving a few quid than they do about the way companies do business, these companies will thrive.
