Hermes getting away with theft

So why is none of it on the tracking? The last people confirmed to have handled the parcel are those in the parcel shop, so that's where I'd start looking.
If a courier has stated it is lost in the depot then I can only assume that is a mistake or misunderstanding on part of customer service, or even an excuse to fob off the OP. It's a standard phrase they use when something has disappeared on line of tracking because they have absolutely no idea where it is.
For the parcel to have arrived at the delivery depot, there would be a minimum of FIVE tracking points recorded. It's impossible for it to go through the system with none whatsoever!0 -

How exactly is the risk of loss/theft greater with larger monitors? Damage yes, perhaps - not "loss". The only reason why a 27" monitor is in greater risk of getting "lost" is that it's on a non-compensation list meaning Hermes won't have to compensate the customer.
It was posted in this 30" monitor box of a screen worth £1K. Last shot as it was delivered to the parcel shop. 1 month later I highly doubt this box is an unwanted item in a Hermes depot
That's hardly packaged very securely!!!  :eek:0 -
I disagree ... it's packaged as securely as it probably arrived. (Unless there was an overall cling-wrap around the box when it first arrived).0

It shouldn't happen but is possible, that said if the parcel shop lost it they are an agent for Hermes and a small shop with a few parcels has less excuse for losing the parcel than the depot.
Packaging, not the best and I understand you are saying the cause of the loss may be the box or monitor getting damaged but if that's the case the courier should take greater care to document this, after all it's in their interest and would have saved them nearly £200 on this occasion if that were the case.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
The Hermes tracking system is a well documented fantasy. Apparently developed for but rejected by the PO as unfit for purpose. I've had numerous bad experiences with them and am actually suggesting to Which that one of their campaigns could sensibly be around having a choice of courier when buying online as so much of their business comes from their status as sole delivery option. I for one resent having to use such an appalling service. Not my usual positive outlook I know. Well done on the refund. Humdinger10

I think you fail to understand that the courier never actually received it, otherwise they'd have delivered it or logged it as damaged and return to sender!
There are 5-6 stages a parcel goes through before reaching the courier. This parcel obviously never went through any of them otherwise it would have been scanned and shown on the tracking. The parcel appears to have never left the parcel shop.
The OP refuses to show a screenshot of the tracking or the barcode number, so I guess we'll never know the truth!0 -

I understand perfectly but at the risk of repeating myself the parcel shop are the couriers agent.
OP's contract is only with Hermes, the shop is essentially part of the Hermes network and as long as OP has a receipt to show that parcel was handed over it will be deemed to have entered the network regardless of whether Hermes themselves got their hands on the parcel.
If the shop lost or damaged the parcel that is the responsibility of Hermes with regards to the OP.In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces0 -
I was referring to how the OP originally received that package.Moneyineptitude wrote: »But it didn't arrive
