I've just realised I forgot to plant my onion sets .. is it too late now?
You can plant them - you will just need to keep an eye on them re harvesting - hope for an "Indian Summer" in September so they swell and don't succumb to white mildew. Watering will help them get going.Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Called Crystal Lemon link to rhs plants page- I bought one at the local QD Stores garden centre when I feared none of mine would germinate. I don't know anything about it yet. I will let you know in due course.
And yes, I have leeks in for the winter. Love leeks!Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Hurrah! I went out with a torch last night stalking and disposing of slugs and snails (as you do) and saw a large adult hedgehog on one of my raised beds. First I've seen since around the same time last year.
I left out some cat food which disappeared, although whether that was the hedgehog, local cats, foxes or mice is difficult to say! I'll have to put it out on a baking tray covered in sand to ID the tracks..0 -
Oooh leeks. Yes, I should get some of them sown!
Can we talk about aphids? My food crop is (so far) fine, but there is a bush and a couple of roses that are absolutely infested! I have seen some ladybirds about, but honestly, not enough to deal with the infestation. Any suggestions? Would a soapy water spray really work on them?

After a long battle (which we have lost) with Rosemary Beetle we resorted to a twice-a-year spray with this stuff (link) which is bee friendlySave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

Oooh I really want one of those raised planters, I could put it by the backdoor and use it for salad leaves...one day!
No gardening today apart from harvesting and eating three of my Pak choi. Absolutely amazing! Tastes so much fresher than shop bought. Now I'm really regretting not sowing more earlier, my next batch have only just come up sigh. Still three more in the garden to eat so there's that.May Grocery Challenge -£216/4000 -
Omg we are in the middle of a giant thunder/ hail storm and I can see things are getting destroyed. The remaining Pak choi has been completely shredded, all my Brussel sprouts in bits, my petunias, both of my blueberry plants shredded, I can see unripe strawberries on the floor and that's just what I can see from the door. The garden has just been destroyed in a matter of minutes I'm absolutely gutted.May Grocery Challenge -£216/4000

Well I waded across the garden and it's bad... Cucumbers and pumpkins just have stumps of leaves left. Pak choi is just destroyed completely, as is all my lettuce and two baskets of petunias. Most of my tomato leaves are on the floor aswell as the flowers and little tomatoes. My magnolia trees have lost their leaves, my.blyeberries have lost a few branches and what's left is full of holes. Raspberries, broad beans, apple and cherry trees all full of holes. I can't believe it. Most of my garden has been destroyedMay Grocery Challenge -£216/4000
