I had two courgette plants last year. I live alone.
One week I had eight of the wretched things to eat.
I made courgette chutney (twice), pickled a load of them, and had courgette frittata most days for lunch.
You'll probably be able to hold a market stall!
I do love them, but my kids won't eat them :rotfl: I'm not convinced they'll continue growing (I have even managed to kill cacti) but fingers crossed....I will just keep a couple if they do succeed.
Some lovely tips and links, thanks:) What a nice thread this is

I've never really managed to have a courgette glut - despite my best efforts. Outside the slugs had them, in the greenhouse they just went yellow & rotted. I tried hanging baskets, but also had to pick them small before they went yellow
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
I found a good load of well rotted farmyard manure brought on my courgette glut a treat.0

Beautiful warm evening here its almost like summer.
Sowed carrots today, first of the season and set up a watering system using leaky hose (which I've had for years) for the early potatoes. Hopefully it will cut down on my time.
Potted on loads of geraniums all grown from seed, plus begonias, sweet peas and lupins
I reckon I've about a month left in which to catch up with all my jobs I didn't do over the winter - going to be busy0 -
Catch up day here too, back on the higher dose of steroids (yay) and I've half an apple tree to chip before I can get back to repotting, then messing around with my weather station - then chemo tomorrow which may or may not put me out of whack for a couple of days

Me too - not only for your chemo, but the way you work so hard in the garden in spite of it. Respect, as they say2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Thanks both, it's fairly light chemo, so I'm more in danger from my steroid induced snacking than anything else. I need something to burn off those yellow sticker pain au chocolat - so it's either something useful like gardening or some 'normal' exercise, and I run like a penguin in clogs
