  • beanielou. That really is a powerful song .I used to sing in choirs until my 20s and it was lovely to belt out the powerful songs and sing the gentler ones . You're probably aware I am Woman became an anthem for the Women Liberation Movement . I'd been marching and campaigning since my teens for many causes . Many people nowadays don't understand how different life was for women back then . Everyday females were often seen as a lesser species and treated differently to the male . So I was familiar with every word . No ones ever gonna keep me down again was in my head walking out of the court.I'm glad you had a song to comfort you when you needed it . I believe words are powerful whether poetry, music or some random thing online which resonates .

Well I came here to send positive vibes to Mooloo for tomorrow . So goodnight all , sleep well .

Mooloo, I hope you are able to get some 'me time' over the weekend, it really does sound as if you are running on empty :(

Pollyanna, thank you for your post (((hugs))). It is hard to pick out a 'worst' thing about abuse but one of the things I hate is the sense of shame it engenders in the victims, such that they are often afraid to speak out even decades later. It is not the victims who should be ashamed!!

I don't know whether any of you remember this from a few years ago? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEybVOerb9Q
I am a hugely proud mama as my son and his work partner created that ad :)

I too sing in choirs. I cannot exercise much these days and it is the one thing that gets my heart and lungs working and releases the old endorphins :D

    Am pottering along.
Pollyanna your not hijacking my thread, your telling a story that needs to be told to a group of friends. Hard won by freedom sometimes. Biggest came to see me yesterday, after speaking on the phone the last few days. The babysitting was cancelled just before I was due to go, as her Husband got in from work early.
    One thing at a time.
I have the third fitting of the day booked in 7 minutes. Possibly time to prepare the next zip replacement, but actually I am going to make a cup of tea.
From Monday with little work to today with a full work shop of jobs.
Not going to panic and not going to rush, or mistakes happen.
Dgd is going to her Mum for half term. I might be going to Malta. Seen a great deal and a friend might just be able to come with me. I will know later.

Hmm Malta. Mooloo, the past few holidays for you do not appear to have created the rest, peace or interest you have even looking for.

You seem to have a need to be constantly moving, constantly under pressure, constantly spending on holidays.

Can I just suggest you allow yourself to find some peace, that won’t be on another cheaply holiday with a friend who may not have the same wishes as you.

If your grand daughter is away why not keep your money in your pocket, look for space at home. Work out a plan to motivate yourself to sort things out and to relax.

To me it seems you are constantly running from your home life because it’s not the space you want it to be. Work on making it what you want rather than running away from it again.

Just my opinion, others will disagree I know.

Sorry mooloo but I'm thinking along the same lines as ognum. You mentioned this week you need headspace . You also admit you procrastinate - I do that from time to time but pull myself up and carry on.

Heading to Malta is not going to mean you'll come back and the house is magically transformed . Yes you're exhausted but a big part of that is carrying all the things that need doing to prepare for working from home in your head 24/7 .

It's tempting to escape to the sun but you'll be losing a weeks income , spending money you don't have ,however much of a bargain the holiday seems and coming back to the house with another week gone by and nothing done.

With dgd away at her mums you have time to clear your head and plan and work through making space , building the unit and sorting the floor . If you are ever going to have headspace and time to focus this is probably the only chance you'll get .

Tell everyone you are too busy to deal with whatever problem they have and get stuck in . The shop lease runs out at the end of August and we're already into February and the months will fly . Start concentrating on how you will sell the rest of the machines, stock and the furniture over the next few months .

I know you are tired but look up avoidance coping , running away solves nothing we carry all the stuff in our heads and it weighs us down and ruins our sleep . Half term is the time you can make progress as you'll have the house to yourself and no work to go to .

I promise you'll feel better if you get on with it rather than going to Malta . Grey Queen on OS had a signature " Every new possession loads us with a new weariness" That applies to old ones too . Get selling, freecycling , donating to charity shops if things don't sell . Visualise your spaces as you work and plan the future as you go .

You don't need any more debt or to come home to the same situation that is draining you mentally and physically .

hb2 You're right to be proud of your son That was a powerful campaign that stopped people in their tracks and raised awareness .

    Just finished the floor.!
    Room looks completely different.
Organised a sale in March for the fabric etc.
Holiday is booked, but I am not paying for it, and have the Euros anyway.
I have started sorting here and in the shop.

  • I have been lurking on your thread for a long time and realise what a hardworking lady you are with lots of struggles.

But I bet lots of people shouted WHAT! at the computer screen when they read that you were having another holiday, 2 months after your last holiday.

I have to wonder if your Mum is treating you to another holiday. If so, it's no wonder that your children are always asking you, as their Mother, for money. Maybe they see your Mother treating you, so why can't their Mother treat them.

No she is not. My friend is paying for it. I paid for one for us in the past.
I just need spending money. Which I have.
